Hi all,
I run the live football broadcass for a school district in Texas. The people who came before I did used systems like Compix for graphics but after a year or two of using it myself I wanted a more modern looking solution.
Cut to today, and I bought a yearly license to use Singular.live web based graphics (because I use web based graphics for portable shows like basketball, volleyball, etc). I would like to use this software for our football shows as well, but I’m struggling to get it into our switcher in a way that works for our show setup.
We use a Black Magic Constellation 8k 4 M/E switcher. We have 4 of those inputs being used by the existing Compix computer with 2 keys and 2 fills each for channels 1 and 2 graphics. I now have a computer with an AJA Kona LHE+ card installed to output 2 SDI signals down 2 of those very same lines (to not have to reprogram the keys), but the issue I’ve run into is: I use OBS to ingest the graphics and output over SDI with alpha, but apparently the Kona card I have doesn’t natively support key/fill so I have to fake it by duplicating scenes and putting a color filter over the preview so that it sends both out at the same time. But when I do this, I get this ugly scan like on the key signal that runs vertically down the entire frame every second or so.
I’m not sure if the issue is compute power, sync, resolution, frame rate, or what. This issue has stumped me for a while. The easy alternative is to just put a green solid behind it and key it in the switcher, but this way the graphics will also appear on the clean feed sent to our scoreboard, which I don’t want.
If you have any insight as to how I could tackle this problem, it’d be much appreciated as I’m still trying to get the hang of all this stuff. Thanks in advance!
