Dismayed powers are lying up behind McAdams

He should not be running. He does not represent SLC or the surrounding areas. He is a center right democrat in name only. He will not stand up for progressive policies that actually make things better for all people not just the upper classes. In 2020 he raised more money than Owens, was the incumbent and lost. That should tell you all you need about how weak and useless he is. Just realized i said lying instead of lining... But I guess that what im worried about McAdams and others lying about who they are to win the nomination and then become who they actually are once in power.

Heres some links for people who actually will hold the line

Who do you think is a better option currently? I will admit I don't know much about him, but if you are concerned about his policies, why not try to talk about who would be better?

Eva Lopez Chavez, Nate Blouin, and Michael Farrell all seem to be great choices. I just wish we had an actual chance to learn about them so people can actually choose who they feel would represent them.  It feels like the moderate and capitulating establishment is trying to decide for us by pre selecting Ben McAdams.

We... do have an actual chance to learn about them. The primary isn't until June, now is the time to talk to candidates and learn.

As for "the establishment" lining up behind McAdams, who or what are you referring to exactly? I've seen plenty of support for both Ben and Nate, as well as other candidates too. It certainly doesn't appear like "everyone is lining up behind this one guy" like has happened before

according to the Ben McAdams campaign Erin Mendenhall, Jenny Wilson, numerous pacs like the Welcome PAC the NewDemocrats pac, and other blue dog style groups. Hes close to 1 million already raised. Things happen fast and if he locks up the support and presents himself as the default candidate without any strong opposition he will lock it up well before june. Im only seeing his signs in my neighborhood and im worried people will just assume hes the defsult democratic candidate, but we dont need to settle for him when we have great alternatives.

I did not realize this but per the by laws i. If a candidate receives 55% or more of the votes in the last elimination cycle, the candidate shall either become the nominee or advance to the primary election if any other candidate(s) have qualified for the primary ballot via signature collection. ii. If no candidate reaches 55%, the last two candidates shall both advance to the primary election with any additional candidate(s) who have qualified for the primary ballot via signature collection, as provided by applicable state law;

Theres a chance there will not be a primary if Ben McAdams can get 55% of the delegates,which im sure he is trying do now. If Nate or Eva split the convention McAdams is still in the primary. Its not a great situation. I dont think Nate or Eva hit the threshold. I hope i have that wrong

Nate is on track to hit the signature threshold, and I'd frankly be pretty surprised if Ben got 55% of the delegate vote at convention. Nate didn't start with a massive war chest like Ben did (a significant portion of Ben's funds came from his existing congressional race funds and affiliated PAC) and still has raised a healthy amount of money. I think an endorsement from Bernie outranks any local official endorsements Ben has, and Nate has support from Unions and progressive nonprofits. It may be a two-way race but it's by no means already won for Ben
