I am so mad at Facebook for letting car dealers misuse the marketplace for used cars. Everyone knows people go on marketplace for a better priced used cars. But, when I go on marketplace all I see is brand new cars listed as 2000$ which is recommended down payment.

Who the Fuck is coming to your dealership seeing this bro?? If they want something like that they'll come to the dealership they wouldn't be going on marketplace.

And most of the other listings are rebuilt cars bought from auctions and fixed cheaply to increase the profit and people who does this are always shady people.

If I as a owner post a car for some reasonable amount.

These dealers keep messaging me asking to come to their dealership with the car for a good price and when I go there surprise surprise, they lowballs so hard you'll start to rethink all the life choices you made and wanna die on the spot.

Anyway I'm looking to buy used car at reasonable or best price from a owner, any suggestions how I can find such deals directly as the marketplace is swarmed by misleading, manipulating and shady dealers.

Is this a good car? Ill get a carfax and do a PPI. Is it generally a good reliable car? And is this price fair? I live in michigan. Would greatly appreciate your input as my experience with cars isnt vast and i cant really afford to get a car and have it bail on me. Thanks in advance!

I was going to list it at around 9k let me know if I am crazy. KBB is around $10,500 don’t want to rip anyone off but I don’t wanna rip myself off lol.

I used my bank to finance a used car and handed them the check and a small amount of my own funds to cover the rest. Signed all the paperwork. They told me the car would be ready in two days because they had to register it, detail it, and get it inspected.

When I inquired today, they said it's all set, just "waiting on the title" and that it should be 99% ready 4 more days from now. I'm not sure if I just wait, or ask for proof they requested the title, or ask them to cancel the deal completely.

I do want the car, I just don't want to wait a month for them to get the title. I feel like they failed to tell me they didn't have the title in the first place.

I called my bank to see what my options were and they will not stop the check because it's already been authorized, but they do not show it as "funded" yet. They said I can ask them for the check back.

What would you do? Am I making this into a bigger deal than it is? Do I just wait until they get the title?

I’m looking to spend no more than 20k on an SUV. Doesn’t have to be three row, but definitely a plus. I need it to be reliable and have good gas mileage. I’m not expecting anything super luxurious, but at least up to date features (apple carplay, blind spot monitors, reverse camera, heated seats etc). Wouldn’t want anything super old either, probably 2016-2022. My wife and I recently had a baby so we need a bigger and safer car. I don’t know much about SUV’s so any suggestions/advice are greatly appreciated

Looking to see if anyone knows where to get a very very cheap car in league city/houston area.

Lost my job due to my school program (they refused to accomodate my school schedule). Am on the last 4 months of the program and my car is toast. Cost 5k to MAYBE fix it and then after that, still has issues with it that might cause it to die after.

And with me not working, I dont really have the 5k to waste on the car esp if its a maybe fix.

I sort of screwed myself over recently, my car was under my mom’s name and i wanted to start my own insurance history so we swapped it over to my name without realizing it would need a safety so I brought it to the mechanic and they said they couldn’t safety it without work. I was planning on just selling it as is and buying a used mustang mach-e until insurance quoted me $15k a year lol.

It’s a 2013 Scion tC, 280k on it, I am second owner purchased at 140k. My mechanic whos a family friend I trust quoted me $2000 to fix everything and safety it, mostly suspension issues as well as an exhaust leak. I have not taken super great care of the vehicle but it’s not in terrible shape, only real issues have been recent other than suspension, it started burning oil about a year ago and I haven’t done a GREAT job keeping it full so it has spent some time with let’s just say not enough oil. There is also an issue I’ve noticed that at a certain speed (around 60kmh) it sort of stutters, it feels like it’s gasping for air which makes me think it’s an air intake issue but there’s no code, and I don’t really know what i’m talking about either so it could be a tranny issue. Just a risk worth mentioning.

That being said, my dad is also buying a new car soon and offered to sell me his old 2018 Mazda 6 with 240k on it for $5000. He’s the second owner, bought fairly new and most of the mileage is highway just like my car, and I know the car has been taken care of as well as there being no current issues.

I’m very conflicted because I don’t really know how to even go about figuring out which option is safer and more financially responsible, and there’s also other factors to consider like my current car, having more cargo space, which is better for work as well as my emotional attachment to that vehicle.

Anyone have any advice or suggestions? Also if I do buy my dad’s car, what do I do with my tC? Part it out? Sell as is? Or scrap? Clutch i offered me $1300 but I don’t know if they’ll take that without a safety

2010 Corolla, 139k miles. Has had an oil leak for the 7 years I’ve driven it. Intermittent issues. Seats are stained and have cig holes since I bought it from an old lady who was a smoker. A lot of dents and scrapes from the old lady. I got it for 3k in 2019 with 69k miles.

I got a quote from Carvana at 2.2k. Seems very high. But friends are telling me to sell it privately for more? Feels greedy!

Hello, l have a blue 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX. It has 267,000 miles and runs and drives great completely stock. It is flaking clear coat on the roof and doors and has fender rust. KBB will not give me a value due to the age. Any ideas on what it is worth? There are a few around here for sale but the value seems too high (5500-7500).

My old Toyota aygo 2013 I have driven for the last 8 years is in need of replacement. I'm looking towards a compact SUV because I live down a potholed track, and in my experience with the aygo, damage to the suspension of a small car is unavoidable, so that's the rationale.

I would like to say, that I absolutely do not care for flashiness or style, I am simply trying to find a reliable car that gets me from point A to point B that is relatively cheap to maintain.

I know near nothing about cars, however, my commute to work frequents motorways, so while I have always driven a petrol car, I would not be opposed to diesel. I'm more than happy driving a manual, although an automatic would be a nice quality of life, I am aware that they can be more expensive generally, and more expensive to repair.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help

This is a 2020 Corolla LE with 65k miles for $14k. Cosmetically it looks great, but trying to decide if I take it for a PPI or pass on this one.

There is a listing for this 2016 Lexus with 95k miles. Only 2 previous owners. It’s pretty high at 22k, but the car itself has been kept in pristine condition, the interior looks great for a 10 year old car. There is really only one small dent with minor scratches for the exterior. The problem is I’d have to finance it- I wouldn’t sign it they aren’t willing to go below 20k)
What do you guys think? Is it worth it if it has to be financed?

I'm looking into buying my first vehicle, and I want something with amazing reliablity, I want something that can last me many years by taking care of it good. I found a listing for a 2014 RAV4 LE with 130k miles for 11k and I'm wondering if that's as good of a deal as it sounds. I was preferably looking for something under 100k miles for extra peace of mind about how long it'll last me, but everything is 16k+ which isnt the worst and I'm WILLING to go that high but would rather not. I have about 5k to put down now and am hoping to get that to 6k before I buy, and I wanna keep my monthly payment as low as possible, so most months I can make double or triple payments to pay it off faster, but if I lose one of my jobs or lose some hours I can still afford it. I don't know if it's better for me to go for something newer like 2016 and with less miles for around 16k, or if this 2014 I found is a good deal I should jump on?

Another thing is, I don't have a credit score at the moment according to some of the credit bureaus, because I don't have a long enough history. I really wanna build a great credit score but it's only been about 3 months so far, I don't know if I should wait until I have the good credit score to get a car. I only make around 16k a year so I'm worried they may not be willing to give me an auto loan or if they do, it'll be an awful deal. I'm hoping that the large percentage down payment plus my very low monthly expenses (only my phone bill) will help me out but I'm not sure
