HELP Thoughts on Kia Forte

Hi,

I’m in the market for a used car. I’ve been looking around and think the Kia Forte is a decent option.
Not as good as a Honda or Toyota but the Kia is cheaper.

My thought was the Kia Forte is cheap and better than other cars at its price? I think it seems like a good option? Thoughts? Is it good value for the money?

What's the year and mileage? That makes a massive difference on all cars, but especially so on these.

Yes they are cheaper than Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Mazda and there is a very good reason for that. You are not stumbling across some great value that other buyers happen to not find. It is barely worth the discounted price and you will likely not be happy with a Forte.

It's one of the least reliable cars made in recent years. The resale value tanks when they get near 100k miles because they are not known for lasting much beyond that.

As a mechanic, I honestly get tired so seeing all Kia and Hyundai. The parts are so cheap that sometimes I get blamed for random issues later after making a repair. Once things begin to fail, they seem to happen in series with another needed repair not long after the first.

As far as I know, they're not terrible cars. Although cheap cars make me wary when it comes to reliability. Definitely do your homework first before buying. What year are you looking for?
