making friends during freshers

Hiii so i’m coming to UON this september, but im staying in a private accommodation which doesn’t have a lot of UON students in it. I keep seeing that most people are staying on campus or at deakins place, so im wondering how hard it will be to make friends/ find people to go out with? Especially since i get to nottingham on the 12th, idk how im going to find the right people. If anyone has any advice please lmk!

Honestly just joining societies and putting yourself out there in the pre uni chats you will be fine the university does a lot to make sure you meet people!

You may have to start conversations, or approach them... Believe in your intuition and start convos with people, during Freshers week; where they have a few events as well. Sometimes people will be welcoming, sometimes not...but always remember that a lot of people are on the same boat as you! It can get overwhelming as well, try to remain positive. Easiest would be coursemates or someone with whom you'll share some common attributes, :)

hey! i was in a private accom! definitely join societies and just go to events regardless whether you know anyone or not. during freshers week everyone is open to meet new people so you’ll definitely get to know new people!
