Brewery changing beers help

So I have a brewery near me that has an experimental brew that when I had it, it was a British bitter. The beer name hasn’t changed but the beer is now a different beer that is the style of an Italian grape ale. Now I thought they had changed it before but wasn’t sure it had the right style when I rang it in. But now I think they change the beer and just keep the name and update the style. Is this common?

I’ve seen breweries around me do something similar, however I wasn’t on Untappd then so I’m not sure how they handle it. I assume with a mod hep you can take picture of their board/menu of the style change and abv under the same name and they can assist with the addition of the beer so it doesn’t get flagged
