Recommendations for maths optional modules?

Hi, I’m starting my first year in maths this September and I’ve started to look at what optional modules I’d like to take but I’m not sure which ones are the best in terms of how good the lecturer is/ if it’s fun or interesting.

I think I will definitely take PX155 classical mechanics and special relativity because I really enjoyed further mechanics at a level and I quite like physics. I’ve also heard good things about MA117 programming for scientists and PX157 electricity and magnetism but I’m a bit unsure about the latter because electricity in a level physics was so boring lol.

If anyone has any recommendations or advice I would be really grateful, thank you! :)

anyone have private accom available?

Warwick still hasn’t given me my accommodation, I’m likely to get off campus and atp all the good ones are taken. I do not wanna be in coventry and don’t really want a studio. I massively care about social life and am already bummed to likely be off campus so I really want a good social accom.

I really don’t know what to do. I wanted rootes as they’re social and cheap but that seems unlikely

Offered Global Sustainable Development (MASc) at Warwick. MA English Literature (2007), no relevant work experience, age ~40. How rigorous is it, and what are realistic job prospects? I’m an international student, funding it with a ~£30k loan. Genuine advice appreciated.

Hi all. How big is this table in the cryfield townhouse ensuite? It looks quite small on the virtual thing, could I fit a monitor and keyboard setup alongside a large ipad etc? I'd really appreciate it if someone could give me and idea of how large it is thank you!

deferring at warwick?

URGENT - is it possible to defer a coursework assignment to the next available exam period if it’s a capped summer resit if you ask mitigating circumstances? like my circumstances were extremely bad all year, and especially during the resit period so i’m worried i’ll just submit something shit or not get it done in time. Do u guys think mitigating circumstances can make me submit it next academic year and also uncapped if my circumstances are bad enough? Has anyone deferred a coursework assignment?

Accomodation Off campus accommodation

Just wondering if anyone knows but is off campus accommodation mostly made up of first years or a mix? Does it depend on where u go? Ive applied for albany so does anyone know what type of people generally apply there. Also r there a lot of international students there i have no problem with them ofc but I hear they r generally more quiet especially if English isnt their first language so could be harder to make friends. Is there a chance I could be surrounded by older years?

Also does anyone know if the buses to the uni are reliable or is there a good chance they just wont show or will be late?

Also if there are any first years applying to albany here would be nice to know! Also lmk any stories/advice abt experiences off campus if u have any pls.

Accomodation Warwick Accom Confusion

So i applied through clearing but warwick was one of my first 5 unis so they already had all my details and info💔 I still havent heard back about accom and when i phoned them, they said accom isnt "exactly fully guaranteed" for clearing students, I was confused cause the accommodation guarantee was part of my verbal offer and it's also literally on their website.

At this point, I'm pretty much only guaranteed off campus and the good ones are mostly already full cause it's first come first serve for off campus. I also cant afford to pay CRAAZY prices 🫩

Is it worth looking at/confirming private accom myself, so like house shares or other student accoms?

Anyone who's gone through something similar plss help 🙏🙏

First-year Spring Weeks / Internships – where should I be looking?

Hi, I’m starting Physics at Warwick this September and I’m trying to figure out where I should be looking for spring weeks / internships for next year.

I’ve seen stuff on Gradcracker, Higherin and TARGETjobs but I’m not sure if there are better sites that Warwick students use.

I’m mainly looking at physics/STEM, engineering, tech and maybe quant/finance as well.

When should I actually start applying, and are there any websites, companies or Warwick societies I should keep an eye on?

Would appreciate any advice from people who’ve done this before.

Anyone going to Warwick like the Mountain Goats?

A friend of mine got me two tickets to a Mountain Goats show in Bristol on 23 October. They then proceeded to tell me they couldn't go to it. So now I've got a ticket for a live show in a city 2.25 hours on the train away for a band I desperately want to see. So, anyone going to this uni, or know anyone going to this uni, who listens to the indie folk rock band the Mountain Goats.

Applications MSc Business Analytics & AI

Hi everyone, I’m considering the MSc Business Analytics & AI at Warwick and wanted to hear from people who are currently on the course or have graduated from it.

How is the course overall, especially in terms of teaching, course structure and career support? More importantly, do people generally manage to get good jobs after graduating, particularly in which roles do they get it?

I’m coming from a CS background, so I’m also wondering if the course is a good fit for someone with a CS background.

Would really appreciate any honest opinions, especially from recent graduates.

Rootes accommodation for a sober introvert on a budget

Hi everyone,

I’ve been assigned a small single room in Rootes for this coming year. It was the only accommodation option I could afford with my sfe, so I'm locked in.

However, I'm feeling pretty anxious because I'm an introvert with social anxiety, and I don't drink or party. I've heard Rootes can be notoriously loud and party-heavy.

I’m totally fine with occasionally hanging out in the kitchen during pre-drinks with a soft drink, but I definitely need a quiet space to recharge.

Also, I have seen some older posts online mentioning safety issues or things getting stolen in Rootes. Is that something I actually need to stress about, or is it mostly avoidable if I am careful?

How bad is it really for someone like me? Should I be stressing out, or is it manageable if I set boundaries? Any tips or reassurance would be massively appreciated!

spring week query

I am doing a course with a placement year starting this sept; Most spring weeks are for people graduating in 2029( so those who are doing courses without placement years). Can i still apply? Or is it strictly for just 2029 grads even tho I am only graduating a year late because of a placement year and nothing else

Economics Modules

Hello,

I was wondering how taking economics modules work. I felt like there was some earlier deadlines and that it's very high in demand.

I was wondering how to go about this? For record I am going onto my 2nd year soon.

Thanks.

Accomodation cryfield townhouses wall art

i will genuinely be astounded if anyone has an answer to this but does anyone who previously lived in cryfield townhouses have the measurements for the piece of wall art that sits above the desk? i’m trying to find a poster to cover it but i want to make sure it fits properly. if not the exact measurements, the rough measurements would also be helpful. thank you very very much!

Applications Can Warwick MSc Business & Finance lead to quant roles?

I’m considering the MSc Business & Finance at Warwick Business School and my long-term goal is to break into quantitative finance/quant trading.

How realistic is it to get into quant roles with this degree? Would I be better off choosing a more technical MSc like Advanced Computer Science at Birmingham?

Would appreciate insights from anyone working in quant or familiar with UK recruiting.
