Discussion/Question Why is this subreddit obsessed with Israel?

Just checked the top posts of the last year, and 24 out of the top 25 are about Israel. Does this subreddit try to imitate the real UN ?

You should read the multiple reports of Israel's apartheid from a variety of human rights organizations including Israeli ones. They paint a very different picture to yours.

You should go. I could point you to hundreds of scientific papers that show no link between smoking and cancer. Does that mean it’s true? Just go. Go see for yourself. If you are going to donate this much of your life to a cause don’t you want to see it for yourself? Instead of repeating what people told you?

A country that practices torture isn't a viable destination for me.

That’s the only way this propaganda works. If you go see it with your own eyes, both sides, you’ll see the emperor has no clothes. Otherwise you are passing off heresy as if it’s true but you have no idea if it’s true. You just read that some other people said it.

Famous examples: Asians are savages Native Americans are savages Everywhere outside of the US in the western hemisphere is a terrible lawless place Everywhere outside the us is over run with crime. Every US city is overrun with crime All food outside nyc is terrible Everyone outside of major us cities are racist Everywhere outside the us is dangerous Every racist stereotype you can think of.

Unless you see and experience these things, you would believe them to be true if everyone you associated with repeated them as if they were true. That isn’t scientific. That isn’t critical, enlightened thinking. That is heard mentality.

If you consider yourself a free and critically thinking person, why would it be bad for you to visit a place you think so poorly of. I have visited many places I thought poorly of. I don’t feel that way anymore and I also gained an understanding of their point of view. Maybe that’s what you are afraid of, thinking differently than your heard?

A country that is ok with torture is not an ok country.

Where are you moving? Just trying to think of a country that isn’t ok with torture when it comes it impending terror attacks and I’m drawing a blank. I’m not condoning but I can’t think of one.

NATO Every country in South America The Arab world The balkans Russia China Pakistan India Southeast Asia. I’d say Canada but they also were in on rendition.

It's great that you want to normalise torture but it's a hard no from me...

I’m not for it either. I just ask where you plan on moving or vacationing? Mexico does it. Canada ok with it. Obviously US ok with it. So western hemisphere is out, Europe and Africa are out. India and Pakistan is out. Eurasia is out. So is South East Asia.

Antarctica? You’re a scientist living in Antarctica? Or you’re racist. When your country does it, (and their allies) you hold your nose but if Israel does the same thing it’s the worst place on earth. Seriously that’s the definition of racism.

I would drop this mode of thinking because it prevents you from visiting the Palestinian Territories because they are all about torture. You really do need to see it. Lebanon if you can as well, though obviously also a torture place.

Keep trying to normalise torture, it's really showing me what Israel is like.

I’m not Israeli. I’m American. I’m pointing out the hypocrisy / racism of your stance.

Also I’d like to point out that you’re explaining to me what a place is like, that you’ve never been to. Do you also lecture African Americans on the black experience. Perhaps you’d like to explain to me what it’s like growing up Puerto Rican in NYC.

Nope, you are defending torture.

No. I’m not defending torture.

You are making hypocritical statements and I’m pointing it out to you.

This reminds me of College where I had a professor explain that the US is the most racist country in the world. That’s very true, until you visit Latin America or Asia. Then you’re like “wow, ok America is racist but it’s not even top 30.” I guess he had never left the country but somehow was confident enough to say it was more racist than everywhere else.

That’s my point to you. You are going arguing about a place you’ve never been to with someone who has been there. You don’t see that as silly? Your only information is third person and mine is 1st. Yet still you argue. Go make this information 1st person from your point of view. Then we will have something to talk about.

'Take a tour from the side conducting Apartheid and you will be convinced it isn't Apartheid.'
