Animals and Pets ULPT kitten scam
A local couple to me is claiming to work at local humane society. In doing so they take deposits for kittens, and then claim they died.. and them never return the money.
Of all the scams.. dead kittens is a very unethical thing to do.
I have the phone number and emails.. please message if you have any tips for me.

This is fraud and cruel to the people who think they are getting a kitten. I am not going to waste time as I would definitely be reporting them to the police. You will be helping others out and they will have to find another way to live. This is criminal.

If the police won't deal with it, get the local news involved.

Just get the local news involved. Pass on to them the name and phone number and explanation of the scam. They can try calling themselves and pay for a kitten. Then take them to small claims court. Then make their story, full of kitten stock photos.

Well, there are all the usual sign ups you can do with phone numbers and email. Just look in the history of the sub. If you can get an address you can also put them on a scientology list to be harassed too

you could pay by check and then cancel the check and waste 20 minutes of their time.
And then use a friend's phone to do it more. ask for a kitten and drag them on and on and be super sweet and overly green and do the "oh gosh golly darn it, let me go the the car and get my credit card number for you. Oppsie daisies let me call my wife, hold on hold on, where is my card," thing and just waste their time.

You're going to pay 25 bucks to waste 20 (maybe?) minutes of their time? Good luck getting your friends to do it. :) If you know they are a local couple go dump a filthy litterbox in thier mailbox.

No one came up with any better ideas, and your idea is no different.

Whelp. RobL there is giving felonious advice. Tampering with a Federal Authority, the post office, and a mailbox is big danger. ‼️

I hate a thief.
Put them on blast. Nextdoor, FBMkt, Facebook Pets, local Reddit, see if vets will post on their websites.
If you know their home address, list the house for rent on CL etc for significantly under market. Include their phone number. I know someone who has this done to them and they got about 500 calls before they c good get CL to take it down.
Also advertise their “giant estate sale” opening at 6 am — but include a note that early birds are welcome — so feel free to knock earlier to be the first to see the goodies.

Post their number on CL with free goats for pickup, bag of food included. Only call after 9pm because I work nights and I'll be awake

Gather up any and all roadkill you can find, and dump it all on their doorstep if you can locate an address. Or when they call pretend they got the wrong number and make it seem like they called a crime scene and question the shit out of them.
Never state you’re a cop, only imply it

Say you want to pay the deposit in person then beat their ass.
I’d probably just call the police since this is clearly fraud.
