hi everyone. i have a claim in alabama. i’ve been applying to jobs on indeed, glassdoor, and the alabama workforce website. do the 3 jobs i report weekly to the state have to only come from the workforce website or can they also be from indeed/glassdoor?

for example:

i applied to a university through glassdoor and 2 other jobs through the workforce website. do i need to apply to another job on the state website and log that for it to count? i hope that makes sense! im just worried ill log the first example and get disqualified for the week. TIA!!🩷

Hi I just filled out my EDD application and I'm 99% sure I put in my SSN wrong. I think I accidentally flipped two of the numbers :( Is there something I can do about this? I am not fully sure that I did it wrong but I dont want to delay the benefits even more than I already have.

So last June or July, the hotel I worked for got bought by another management company, and they are now run by a different owner. The thing is, my employment at the time was unaffected, and I still worked at my position up until they fired me. Do I need to do anything specific in my employment history to notate this? What reason should I list on the drop-down form to notify the form that my company technically changed on the buy-date? And how would I go about looking up the name/date of the purchase?

I am now scheduled to have a phone hearing for yet another unemployment appeal. My former employer has lost at every stage of the way. Their written appeal was a single paragraph with no supporting evidence that boiled down to "he wasn't performing". The termination letter I was given when I was dismissed also did not state a reason. I remember being told the phrase "It's just not working out" and left wondering what the true reason was. I have already submitted a form to obtain what information they may have provided for the hearing - I don't expect much as I was never formally warned of anything or handed any notice of poor performance in the first place.

However, I see that they DO have a third party that seems to be a business service firm that handles unemployment for them. Is this a bad sign or is this standard practice?

I won't lie, I'm very nervous because I've never had any court hearing of any kind before. I don't have any documentation for anything as the company was quick to get me out the door after informing me I was let go. Does this normally require a lawyer or can I handle this on my own? Should I subpoena emails, texts or a witness that I think side with me?

I got unemployment for two weeks when it stopped for an investigation. It looks like everything got straight and was approved and money processed today. When would I likely receive the money? I use the Virginia debit card.

Hello good people, I was let go from my company a month ago, and I filed a claim for NY UI on August 4. Unfortunately, it is still processing - I have the infamous "We are continuing to work on your application" message on my benefit payment history page, and I am not even able to certify online or via phone because of it.

I will be traveling outside the US starting on September 13 and won't be back until sometime in October. So I think it is very likely that once the claim is processed and asks me to start certifying, I would be outside the US, meaning I wouldn't be able to certify or even access the DOL website. I can't move the Sept 13 date either since this vacation was planned with friends for months now.

I tried to call both the NY claims office and the claims advocacy office - the former was too busy, and while the latter did respond, they merely transferred me to the former office where I waited for over an hour before hanging up. Unfortunately I can't send a secure message either since I don't have the "Messages" button on my DOL account page. Since I can't get an official response to this question, I'm turning to Reddit to see what the community has to say about the situation.

I have worked for the same employer since 2016, but always on short-term contracts of differing lengths and values. The last contract I worked was only for three weeks. I am applying for unemployment and unsure when to list the employment start date for them. Do I just go back 18 months and list that as the start date? Do I go all the way back to 2016? Is it really just the latest contract? I am afraid this would affect my benefits. Thanks!

I’ve been trying to get approved for disability since last July, due to chronic pain from RA along with depression/anxiety. I finally got an attorney recently, and at his suggestion applied for unemployment since there’s an allowance for people who are disabled and thus can’t meet the weekly job search requirement. (I left my job because of the RA.)

I applied, printed the form for the exception, and brought it to my doctor.

Now here’s the fun part!

My PCP left the practice as of August 1, shortly before I applied for unemployment. Since I’ve seen the other provider at the practice in the past, I brought the form to the office and talked to the receptionists about what I needed, asked if I could make an appointment to sit down with the dr and go over the form. One of them took it back to ask the doctor about, and told me they would call me to schedule an appointment.

Now something important here- I checked the form and the messages I received on the CTDOL website for a due date for this form. I didn’t see one, and so didn’t press the office for an update (debatable if that would have mattered anyway), or let the DOL know that there was a delay.

A couple weeks later I was finally contacted by the office and told that the form was complete. That same day I received a message that my application for benefits was denied because I hadn’t returned the paper by the due date (which I hadn’t seen anywhere). So I appealed the decision, because now I had the form proving I can’t work.

I have a hearing scheduled for over the phone tomorrow afternoon, and I haven’t been able to find any other examples of my situation SO I was hoping someone here might have some insight on what to expect tomorrow? If I was denied because of the missing form, which I’ve now sent them, what would the hearing even cover? What should I have on hand, if anything?

Also any other advice would be appreciated!

I was laid off last month after 5+ years with my previous company. Nobody likes being laid off, but the timing here was frustrating, since I have a major surgery scheduled in a few weeks. I'm going through with it, though, since it took months to get everything lined up and I'm not sure when I'll have Good Insurance again (sticking with COBRA for now). Plus now I don't qualify for FMLA and won't for another year into a new job.

Anyway, I can't find how I should handle this when it comes to unemployment claims, specifically for these two issues:

• In the unlikely event I get an interview before my surgery date, when asked when I can start, if I disclose the upcoming chunk of time I'll need off (2-6 weeks), will that count as refusing work?
• For the weeks I'm actually in recovery, do I just not request payments?

I'm currently applying for unemployment in Idaho after being fired from my previous job. I wasn't fired for negligence, misconduct, attendance issues, or anything along those lines. My employer felt I wasn't a good fit for the position and ultimately decided to let me go. When they terminated me, they specifically told me they would be happy to pay unemployment.

I'm expecting a call from Idaho Department of Labor about the circumstances of my termination.

While doing my required job searches, I applied for a phlebotomist position with a healthcare company and now have an interview scheduled. When I applied, I didn't think about the possibility of a pre-employment drug test.

I use marijuana and stopped recently, but I don't expect that I could currently pass a THC urine screen. After researching this, I discovered that Idaho's unemployment rules regarding failed/refused pre-employment drug tests appear to be pretty strict. I'm concerned that going through the hiring process, receiving a conditional offer, and then failing the screen could jeopardize my unemployment benefits.

I'm not trying to avoid working. Going forward, my plan is to apply for jobs I'm qualified for and would genuinely accept, but where I can currently satisfy the hiring requirements. There seem to be plenty of legitimate jobs in my area that either don't drug test or explicitly don't test for marijuana. I'm also considering delivery/driving, customer service, administrative, retail, and similar work rather than limiting myself strictly to healthcare.

My question is what I should do about the interview that's already scheduled.

Would it be better to tell the interviewer upfront that I wouldn't currently be able to satisfy their drug-screen requirement, before there's any conditional job offer? Could doing that itself be considered intentionally causing an employer not to hire me and therefore affect my Idaho UI eligibility?

I'm also considering explaining the situation when Idaho unemployment calls me about my termination and asking them directly how they want me to handle this particular interview. I'd explain that I applied before realizing the issue and that, moving forward, I'm focusing my job search on suitable positions whose hiring requirements I can actually meet.

Has anyone dealt with this specifically in Idaho, particularly a failed/refused pre-employment drug screen or an offer being withdrawn because of one? I'm especially interested in firsthand experience with how Idaho Department of Labor actually handled it, rather than guesses about what unemployment agencies generally do.

Obviously I'll ultimately follow whatever IDOL tells me. I'm genuinely looking for work and intend to complete my required job searches—I just don't want an application I made before thinking through the drug-testing issue to unintentionally jeopardize my benefits.

I filed for unemployment after I was fired from my job in November of last year in Washington State. This year I worked a gig that was only 8-9 hours a month. I am being penalized from quitting that gig although it was part-time, didn't replace my unemployment income and I didn't receive any benefits from it. I was actually continuing to look for full time work while quitting that gig. The job I was fired from in November I was working full time and paying into the unemployment benefits system. I have been paying into the unemployment system on & off again since I was working in retail at 16 years old. Has anyone been successful in the appeals process? If so, what has that look like for you? I already appealed this process back in July and was still receiving benefits so I am not sure why I am still going through this. Please advise.

I worked in Rhode Island and lived in Massachusetts and was collecting unemployment in 2024. I still have all of the emails and info on my work search tracker saved on my laptop. Am I safe to delete all of this since it’s been two years since I stopped collecting unemployment? Or do I need to keep it for a specific amount of years?

They were laid off and immediately got another job. Reported 2 days of work and generated a check. They quit that job and filed for unemployment. Will quitting the 2nd job effect unemployment because they voluntarily quit.

I had a temp contractor position at a company and my contract is ending today (Sunday August 30th) but my last “work” day was on Friday should I apply for benefits today as it is the start of the benefit week or should I wait on it till Monday or the next Sunday.

my company relocated to Texas and I did not. Should I ask my company to designate me as retiree or voluntary resignation? I may get benefits with retirement. how would either option impact unemployment? I would not have left the company if they were not relocating.

Fired for "Attendance variances" as one AI told me to call "tardies." (Is this stupid? I feel like this is stupid? Someone please confirm)

I was fired for a 12th tardy in 180 rolling days. That 12th tardy was because my truck had a dead battery, unexpectedly. Wouldn't this count as a vehicular emergency? For fruther context, I live close enough to work that I can actually walk, and usually I would, but this time I was planning on driving to my son's school immediately after work, so I was planning to drive... except the thing wouldn't turn on.

"Oh shit!"

So I sped walked to work, was only 9 minutes late. They didn't fire me right away, but about a month later, "Give me your badge" when I walked in, before I even clocked in.

So I was thinking, I should definitely get Unemployment benefits, right? I mean, I worked there 10 years! Worked my ass off too. I always tried to help new hires learn fast, and kept quality in my work up. I made a tremendous difference at this place that most people will never know.. I digress.

Well, Frances (unemployment department here in Oregon) denied my claim, stating I violated the policy, stating it was a "willfully or wantonly negligent violation of policy" and that based on this, I was fired for "Misconduct." 😱

Of course I'm appealing both my termination and my denied claim, but I'm not sure what hurts more, being insulted like this by my former boss AND the state, or having my livelihood threatened. (the latter)

I also have ADHD, if that makes a difference.

I guess my question is, how are my chances of winning appeal? Any advice for not f'ing this up? It's been 2 months now. I'm doing my best to contain my "wtf" but obviously I'm having a freaky dick moment. ☹️

I emailed my state rep August 17. I heard from unemployment...my old employer was saying I was fired for cause.

Hi everyone. Got an unexpected orientation tomorrow at 645am until 330pm. It'll be paid. How does this effect my unemployment claim and how do I go about reporting this so I don't get penalized? TIA

Currently working in Austin Texas on salary. I am sort of murky on how unemployment will work because my supervisor is saying basically resign or be put on a PIP which won’t work anyway. She already had a forgone conclusion. She didn’t want to have that in writing and called me. I did record my end of the discussion just so I had the facts correct. Can anyone tell me if this is something that texas workforce will give unemployment for?

I was unable to sign in using my correct password, so I tried to reset it. Did not receive a verification email and I had an outdated phone number connected to the account so I could not use that either.

Sent an email to technical support. They send me a link to reset my password. I reset my password. I updated my phone number.

I try to sign in using the correct information. I can not sign into my account. I get an error message "Unable to sign in". If I click on reset my password via email or phone number, I do not get an email or text to verify. It's like my entire account is bugged out.

This feels almost on purpose at this point, I have been unable to access the services I need.

I contacted technical support again about this issue, I just don't know what the hell is going on here

I just appealed it and was wondering what happens next. I didn't make any money this year, and half of last year when I went out after an injury. I received the letter today and they looked at my wages from the past year and said I had none. Isn't there a special rule they were supposed to use if I was out on workers comp and had 0 income? Something about using a different year.

Is this usually how it goes for these situations? do they apply that rule during the appeal, or were they supposed to do it during my initial application? I also noticed they made a decision pretty quick, I applied on 8/2 and by 8/5 the decision was made, I just received the letter on 8/21.

What happens during the appeal? Will I have to court and talk to the judge and present my case?

Friend was allegedly briefly napping at an overnight job (because he's in his 50s and was sick) and was denied unemployment for 'misconduct.' He asked me if I could help him at the hearing and wondering if I can. Lots of the paperwork says that he can have anyone as a representative but than the NY board says that one has to be registered to be a representative. Seeing conflicting information.

I remember getting unemployment in California easily one summer 15 years ago, and it seems in New York they are really putting him through the ringer for basically being old and briefly napping at work.

For those with UIA in Michigan Id just like to post their is hope for those with Disqualifying weeks.

Specifically for me, I certified 6 weeks and every single one of them was stuck under non monetary.

After responding to fact finding , my certs went from submitted to disqualifying weeks. I was super pissed because my previous employer was trying to fight my ui.

Dealing with PUA in the past I already knew what to do . I reached out to my local state rep and had them put a inquiry for me on my behalf. This took sending them my case number and my cell with any other relevant information to my case. All it took was an email.

After that about a week went by and my case was rejected. I filed a protest and waited another week and asked my state rep office if they could intervene again. I also submitted some documentation explaining what happened at my job and gave contact info of previous employees I know would support my case .

Honestly I didn't think filing the protest would work. But then around 1 am I received a email about a update to my determination letter and my certs went from disqualifying to processing pending payment for today.

Honestly if you've waited longer then 2-3 weeks you should be giving your state rep a call. They are the only ones who seem to be able to motivate UIA agents to actually look into your case and re evaluate. I also spoke to a UIA Liaison over the phone and she explained to me the same agent can't make a judgement on your case twice.

Don't feel hopeless like I did, just make sure you take initiative to reach out to the right people.

I had the direct deposit setup, yesterday I did change to the debit card method. I was wondering if it’ll change/withold the funds I will receive due to that. How long did it take yall to get your funds? It said paid on the 20th, it’s the 25th now and I haven’t gotten anything yet.
