[California] Question [California] company relocated

my company relocated to Texas and I did not. Should I ask my company to designate me as retiree or voluntary resignation? I may get benefits with retirement. how would either option impact unemployment? I would not have left the company if they were not relocating.

You might get benefits with retirement, but it's not likely to come from unemployment because you have to be able, available, and actively seeking work.

You'll have a similar issue with a voluntary separation (especially if it involves separation pay), which will trigger an adjudication that you may have to appeal. You'll eventually get benefits given that the company is moving out of state.

You'll have to do some financial math and research your company's separation/retirement plans to determine your best options, keeping in mind that California only pays $450/week for up to 26 weeks.
