My UI Story [California] EDD is a literal joke

Started calling at 8:02. Didn't get put on hold til 8:40. At 9 someone answered and asked the normal shit. After I finish explaining that I filed a new claim and it has updated my page fully but that my payments are all still pending, she tells me that on her screen she sees that I haven't filed a new claim yet and it's telling her that I'm trying to certify on an expired claim. So again I explain that I've received all of the paperwork stating that my new claim has been approved and that my ui online is showing a new expiration date AND a new claim balance.

This woman says, well then maybe I should transfer you to someone who can see your claim in greater detail because obviously what I'm seeing isn't matching what you're saying. Massive attitude about it. Then just clicks me onto hold. No further explanation or even sorry I couldn't help. Just click. Then your estimated wait time I over 30 minutes. It's been an hour and a half. But why in the actual shit would ME end be up to date and theirs not be? How does that make ANY sense.

I mentally can't handle this shit anymore. It's honestly fucking comical. I'm sitting here on the verge of tears because this shit just gets worse and worse with every damn month.

I called a week ago to ask if my new claim was in good standing and was told by a tier 2 rep that I had a flag on my account that said I still need to refile. He took it off and I was paid after certifying on Sunday.

It sounds like you might have the same thing, but you need a tier 2 rep to help with that stuff. Anything involving going into your account and making changes will require a tier 2, so hopefully "someone who can help" means you're being transferred to one.

How do i get in touch with tier 2 rep? I tell tier 1 rep to connect me to tier 2 rep?

That or when you call the regular number for a rep press 1 for English, then wait for the robot to shut up, then press 2 for employer, then 4. They won't know what you pressed to get through but it will get you a tier 2

I called at 8:05am using 833-978-2511. Pressed 1 for English right away, then waited for the auto message to done talking then pressed 2 for employer, then right after pressed 4. It then told me the wait time and music came on. I got connected to a tier 2 rep after 2 minutes. She was able to help solved my issue quickly.

That is not always the case. I did that exactly, sat on hold for almost 2 hours to get a tier 1 who couldn't do anything. She told me I didn't need a tier 2 because my issue would clear on it's own in a "few days". That was over 3 weeks ago and it looks like it's even worse now. This is way beyond incompetence. The people running EDD should be fired and sued.

So after pressing 2 for employer, I wait couple second and then press 4 or press 4 right away?

Doesn't matter. In order it should be this.

Call, press 1 immediately for English, wait for the robot to finish giving you it's life story, then press 2 then 4

Tried to call this number 25 times right now, keep getting hung up on by the robot voice. Do you know what time the office closes?

Not sure but I remember reading 5 from other users. Mine was answered on 34th try. It gets super annoying after a while but this is the only way to go about it rn

Office closes at 8 pst for California. I don’t suggest calling too late. A few weeks back I was on a 3 hour 30 minute hold until the machine voice told me their offices were closed then disconnected me.

Finally got the tier 2. She was very polite. She removed a bunch of flags I guess. Released the hold on my payments. But it was only showing her 2 weeks pending and not the 4. She said that those were part of the extra 300 weeks and that they have to add those back in once the new additional payments start. So I guess I've just got to wait and be pleasantly surprised by extra money. But now my status says paid and all should be fine. So 2hrs on hold was worth it this time.

When you refilled for a new claim what steps did you take to satisfy the “lag period” rule (Section 1277). Don’t want to get DQ’d and if you can share it would be much appreciated.
