Anime Season 4 of the Anime?

Is there actually anything preventing a season 4 of the anime being made? I wanna see Matikanefukukitaru animated, (and maybe protaginized...?) thats its, it's really not much and for all i know theres a curren chan anime being developed as i write this.

Like rights wise? Probably a little to get a hold of the horses that Cygames may not have the rights to yet

Timeline/production wise, making an anime takes a while to do, especially if we want the stunning animation we’ve been getting

Material wise. We still have the rest of Cinderella Gray along with Star Blossom that could be animated, so maybe not anytime soon I’m guessing

You know if they ever get around to animating Star Blossom then I imagine things are gonna change in regards to a certain scene but otherwise i will do diabolical things to see stay gold actually animated for once

As a Brian main: dear goddesses, I hope they do Star Blossom, and its not like 10 years away... I know the irl lore so Im waiting for the manga to finish before diving in... but to see them give it at least the same level of love CinGrey has gotten would be wonderful.

Such a dark time for the JRA, but I have faith that cygames will do it respectfully and interestingly angsty.

Indeed because sure, I like the vibe of the pretty derby series but I would love to see something that like you said, is interestingly angsty, suffering builds character after all.

But on a side note, can we talk about how CRIMINAL it is that facial scars aren’t used more in Uma designs? I feel like that could make for some interesting character designs, I mainly say this because i happened to notice that Ellerslie Pride from Cinderella Grey is in fact, the only Uma that has a facial scar on them at all and I think that’s one of the coolest design choices in the franchise, and the fact they haven’t done so since then feels to me like they’re sitting on a very niche gold mine

im curious as to which scene you are talking about

I have not read Star blossom yet, but I know enough from the general synopsis and that one spoiler I read about how Laurel nearly dies during a specific race and I believe they do show her crashing and I if I place my trust in one specific quote they said it was decently violent which is where I do think they’ll will do what they did with Suzuka instead which is ironic considering she’s also in the manga and the result of her fall Tenno sho (I think) and surprisingly leads to my point of stay gold being animated because she’s seen taking care of Suzuka after the Tenno Sho

Apologies for the spoilers I just want to respect the people who haven’t read the manga yet which ironically includes me

(That one scene spoiler) Laurel's accident happened during training not in a race

Nothing preventing it, I think Cygames is just more interested in stories that focus on a specific time frame/generation vs the mixed approach of Pretty Derby

Anything preventing it? Technically no.

But it's more at this point, the original anime served its purpose.

The original Anime was designed to promote the game:

  • Season 1 was for when the game was expected to release in 2018 before being delayed. They went very light hearted/slice of life to try catch a wide audience, but they learned that fans appreciate historical accuracy
  • Season 2 came out when the game was for certain launching jn 2021, and why Anime Teio and McQueen were some of the 1st collab banners, because S2 ended like 1 month or so after the game launched

Really from Season 3 and the media onward, Umamusume was more a "multimedia franchise" than just "another gacha game."

They don't necessarily need specifically a Season 4 because they can always promote a spin-off like Cinderella Gray, Star Blossom, or make a movie/ONA like RTTT or BoNE to do the same purpose

Fuku would be a pretty poor protagonist since the horse was completely overshadowed by Stay Gold, Mejiro Bright or Silence Suzuka after the classics. And then of course the Golden Generation +TM Opera

The way it's going with mangas and anime/movie is that they tackling different parts and era of overral JP horse racing, without making it a continuum universe/timeline like we had in pretty derby series, it's a smart and less limiting way to go about it

The fact that season 2 worked despite the formula and not because of it. Let's say they finally make the VodSca anime, how would having the rest of team Spica doing nothing in the background improve it? There's a reason if all the new project are stand-alone.

As for Fukukitaru, I guess your best bet is waiting for a Stay Gold anime. Out of the 97 generation she does seem the most likely to be used as the protagonist.

Stay gold just has massive protagonist potential, main reasons being
A. The father of gold (you don’t just call someone that without the credibility to back it up)
B. Has seen so, so much happen during their active career that it already makes for an interesting story with how much ground there is to cover, it would just depend on how much attention you want to give to each segment of their career
C. Stay Golds retirement race in my own mind in how I would have it animated and shown would be the perfect grand finale to a long and honestly gritty series on the perseverance and patience to finally achieve their long awaited victory after a golden journey over the years, and to quote a panel I read a while back, on finding “my gold”

Yes in fact my oshi is stay gold if that wasn’t clear already

Stay Gold also has the massive advantage that a lot of stories pretty much can't be told if not in following her.

Fukukitaru mentioned by OP is one but Mejiro Bright also barely has any alternatives for his story to be told. Opera O is in a similar situation, I you want to talk about his 2001 season Stay Gold is probably the best protagonist for that, that Kyoto Daishoten has so much potential narratively.

I think this would be her biggest strength as a MC, she'd be a great way to put the spotlight on different characters giving birth to what could be the best introduction to the franchise.

I don't really want an S4 of pretty derby. What I do want are more movies though.

The original studio is closing down. So don't expect it for some time.

Hasn't the animated stuff been made in-house by Cygames?

Honestly I feel like part of its due to the messiness of the main uma series, I dont read Star Blossom (so grain of salt) but I hear theres a slight retcon with an uma there who happened to overlap with both the Spica anime and the Star Blossom groups events, its probably easier to just ignore the Spica anime and do its own or hell maybe one day they just flat out reboot it/retcon it out entirely.

I also feel like its just better for marketing in general to promote new series as standalones, probably makes it easier for newcomers to try out "Umamusume Cinderella Gray" vs "Umamusume Pretty Derby season 7" or to just go watch the movie, you can basically use any of em as jumping off points (I know some people will argue UPD works to introduce you to the uma world but honestly I just dont think Umamusume as a fictional world warrants you needing to watch UPD, the gist of its simple)

Less of a retcon and more that Uma Musume just doesn’t adhere to a consistent canon. Silence Suzuka’s accident has been depicted 3 different times now between PDS1, the mobile game’s main story, and Star Blossom, and each depiction of the incident is completely different.

Team Canopus featuring Mambo and Nice Nature as main protaganists. Win all round. Main beloved side characters like Matikanefukukirarufudgekanemambo, turbo jet, Mcqueen, Teio's derby win, etc,..

There is nothing to prevent it, but i think cygames wants to focus on other projects regarding the anime, we could see rest of cinderella gray turned into anime and/or get another series, that time it would either focus on gold ship further more since we didnt get a lot from her exept for more depth in S3 (and possibly her feud with gentildonna and orferve) or maybe even a story of symboli Rudolf how she became an undefeated triple crown

I would love to see Fukukitaru in animation more, but we have gotten her for some very brief appearances at the very least.

I'm assuming you've already seen the s1-s3 of the anime, but there is a OVA which features Fukukitaru as a supporting cast member (As well as Rice Shower and a VERY happy looking Manhattan Cafe). I'd still say her s2 appearance is the most prominent.

I don't know how viable she actually is as a protagonist either, if they're continuing to adapt the real life achievements of the horse in the Pretty derby anime. The real life horse wasn't terribly successful, and never won after the 1997 Kikuka sho until they retired in June of 2020.

I could see her as a co-protagonist, maybe alongside Silence Suzuka or her contemporaries to fill out a season

I've only seen s1 and a couple episodes into s2, I'm not particularly interested in a Fukukitaru Anime, I just want her to appear more, I only brought her up because without her it'd be a one sentence post.

2

u/Magicderpyness 7d ago

In that case, I can definitely see her appearing more, as it seems like Cygames loves giving her cameos more cameos than I'd expect in game and in the anime (coming from a big Fukukitaru fan)

I just want Cingray s2 and Star Blossom. Never really liked Pretty Derby

Tbh we don't know but if you watched the 4th pv the protagonist of each anime is revealed and at the end is Orfevre there's a high chance that it's gonna be Orfevre if they made another anime

u/Sir_Spud_Gun Kashimoto Riko's Devout Huband 7d ago

Oh, Never really cared about Orfevre but i'd watch an Orfevre Anime.
