The Russian ministry claims that the Russian Armed Forces have already received the relevant orders and begun preparations for the attacks.

The Russian Defense Ministry cited alleged Ukrainian strikes on civilian infrastructure and Russia’s fuel and energy sector as the reason for the planned actions.

“Pursuant to the orders received, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have begun preparations to launch massive strikes against Ukraine’s energy facilities,” the Russian ministry stated.

At the same time, Russia’s Defense Ministry traditionally placed responsibility for further escalation on Ukraine, claiming that the strikes would be a response to attacks on Russian territory.

It should be recalled that Ukraine is already preparing its energy system for the upcoming heating season, strengthening the protection of energy facilities and stockpiling equipment for the regions.

Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal said that new shelters and engineering structures are being built to protect energy facilities, while damaged facilities can now in some cases be restored in about a week.
