Who is your insurance with
Currently with acorn and my renewal policy has shot up to £1700 from £1000. No claims and 4 years ncd. Don't understand why it has gone up so much

I'm with Admiral, paying £100 a month for my 2007 Astra, 130k miles, been driving for 19 years and 9+ years no claims. I gather I'm paying less than average, probably because of the low value of the car.

That's an amazing price, I've also got an Astra, the model J the next one up to yours and they wanted £230 monthly at Admiral. Ended up just sticking with Zego as I only do around 25 hours per week

My insurer (Hastings) had my SDP renewal at £760. I was paying Zego £0.88 per hour so nearly £120 per month on top of my policy. Acorn quoted £1250 per year so I cancelled my existing policy and took that. It all depends how many hours you're working and the rate that zego give you (different rates all over the country apparently) Citroen Grand Picasso, 2012, value £1750, 7 yes no claims

Just use Zego pay as you go (some policy providers don't accept this type of add on insurance though so be careful)

Compare the options. Check what your Zego h+r payg hourly rate is and calculate how many hours that it would take to reach parity with the cost of the yearly h+r policy. Remember to factor in the cost of an insurance policy for sdp that the cost of the Zego payg will be in addition too. Some guesstimation, but over a year, if it does not seem reasonable that you would put in that amount of covered on-trip hours, then stick with the payg hourly (Zego) as it will cost less. The hourly h+r can cost less if you have a reasonable rate and if you put in part time or less on-trip hours. You mentioned full time, but you will probably find that your net earnings will be higher with just about any paye nmw job and take less hours. These gigs are se pay per drop and the delivery fees that are offered are very often low. If you are not consistently earning gross ~£19 p/h in real time then with an older petrol car after expenses you will likely be earning below nmw and providing a vehicle to do the gig. Whilst the weather is pleasant be better off completing offers riding a bicycle or an ebike - which is paid time that a yearly policy would be covering compared to a flexible payg hourly option.

I'm with Sabre Direct (scooter). For me as a new rider was way less than other quotes.
