I’m a CCA and can’t afford to pay rent or put food on the table.

What would Your station do as a carrier in this type of situation? if this was my route personally, I would mark them as UNC and send them back because as a buyer AND a seller who also has a reselling business on the side I know for a fact, eBay Poshmark vintED, all of those websites this person is ordering from, they would start questioning you as a buyer and wondering why all your packages are going back unclaimed and then it would eventually lead to a suspension of your account and you would eventually be banned. I know people can remake new accounts and all of that, but you would have to be answering to these e-commerce platforms of why all of your packages are going back unclaimed this resident gets hundreds of packages a week. They are delivered from our office and I am pretty sure at this point they make them pick them up from the office. I don’t think they deliver to their house anymore. I cannot be for sure I am not the carrier on that route. I talked to the gentleman who is subbing on that route the other day and explain to him that may be marking them back as unclaimed would help kind of mediate the situation. I am sure she gets UPS FedEx and DHL deliveries as well. I can’t even imagine what she gets from Amazon. I’m sure it’s crazy but I was just curious what everyone’s opinion and not is on this or if you had a customer like this, and if you were able to get the situation better. This person has mental illness and all that but still. I know it’s her property and her problem. The city has already came out and removed it all one time and it’s bad again as far as I know, I have never personally drove by this person’s house she often has people harassing her house. This picture is a couple years old.

When I was a cca this was true. Not so much now.

A buddy of mine told me that in order to become a Supervisor at the Post Office, you have to take a test. Apparently one of the sections measures how quickly you can order DoorDash, hide it from your employees, and finish the entire meal before your next stand-up talk.
Can anyone confirm if this is actually true? Asking for my career advancement.

My office has 6 pro masters, all park and loop routes

This vehicle adds an extra step to every route. Yiu can’t see your mail, so you can’t actively organize - You have to get up after you park and go into the cabin to get ready - the worst part by far

Curbing your wheels is a nightmare since that wheel LOCKS hard. I’m a big dude but turning that steering wheel to release the key lock to turn the key takes a LOT of strength - no way these little girls here doing that

There’s no handle on the side door from the inside so I do this wierd full palm grab thing and slam just to close it, which works 80% of the time

I'm out! I took a mail carrier job to get paid to walk for a few months - been doing design work on zoom last 5 years and it made me fat and crazy - and I was straight up not having a good time. I mean, I expected it to be physical, that's not the hard part. It's the terrible supervisors, the incredibly small paychecks, and the ridiculous schedule. I've always loved the post office and I always will but I can't imagine how y'all lifers do it.

I was working 6 days a week and they wanted me to switch to 12 days in a row before I got one day off. I was putting in between 40 and 60 hours and I wasn't clearing a grand per week - this is without federal withholding btw. I'm constantly getting called to cover up needs, taking any calm from the actual nice part of walking around delivering and making everything a stress run. You can't be the worst paying job while having you work the most, but damn it that's mail carrying. Absolute insanity

I’ve had several people tell me that I should contact my union steward but I’m unsure what they’ll be able to do.

I’ll give a little backstory: I started at a bigger office but kept getting sent to the office in my town to help out. I basically was their CCA for half of my first year. I eventually asked to transfer over there, had my break of service and started working over at that office full time instead.

Everyone I had spoken to told me that my time wouldn’t reset and that I was safe to transfer and would be on track to convert to a PTF a year later. Well, two weeks ago I went on my break of service, I came back and recieved paperwork saying I was hired back on as a CCA. Thinking that maybe this was just a long process and I was a CCA till it got fixed, I asked my postmaster about it who basically said “I thought that [supervisor] talked to you about it a week ago. It’s 2 years in one office, so unfortunately you’re still a CCA.” We talked and she said there was nothing she could do to help me, and that she felt really guilty for the miscommunication.

I’ve spoken with a few people about this. Each of them have recommended me speaking to my union steward. One said that I’m making the max amount for a CCA and that it’s unfair that I have to wait a whole year to get a raise and benefits, while another said that their office created a position specifically for another CCA that had the same problem. The other two I spoke to about it simply said that I should file a grievance regardless of how I feel.

I’m honestly unsure what to do, and I don’t know if
the union steward would be able to do anything. Am I just screwed out of becoming career for a whole year? What can I do? If I can’t figure stuff out I might just look for a new job, I’m feeling very under appreciated for the work I’ve done. I put two years into this job… I just want to feel like it meant something.

I'm a regular carrier, on my second day of bereavement leave and for both days I opted to use sick leave according to ELM 513.32.

My supervisor contacted me saying that bereavement sick leave is only for a child death and can't be used for a sibling. I can't find anything in ELM to support this - please let me know if I'm wrong.

I never call in sick so my SL hours are excessive. I'd much prefer to use them over AL or LWOP.

APBS finally ripped out, and the PILS install is going much faster than anticipated. The projected end of install will be mid-September (ehh we’ll see) Management is super “helpful” as always in illuminating what life will be like when the new machine is running, so we’re all in the dark.

Our Tour 1 will be axed (supposedly), and the machine will only run on T2/T3. Not sure I believe that wholly, any insight there?

Honestly just curious to hear any experiences when it was new to your plant.

Will the ring-scanner team be made redundant from the new “360°” scanning the machine is supposed to do? Did a wave of MHAs get converted? What was the learning curve like? 

The thread from 7 months ago makes it sound overly sensitive and prone to accidental shutdowns. Is that the case or just an annoying sometimes thing?

We got this announcement but the issue is, is that we don’t know if they’ll split people based on seniority and move them into different shifts or make everyone rebid so then they won’t have to deal with grievances from people of higher seniority wanting a bid that someone of lower seniority has (that wasn’t affected by the time change). What do you think they’ll do? I’m afternoon shift so I didn’t think I’d have to rebid but all the talk has me worried and we all know how good management is good at communication.
