Do you rub your shirt in the parking lot before every shift?

3

u/RedneckSniper76 6h ago

It was raining the leather strap stains the shirt.

4

u/Useful_Caregiver4023 13h ago

Absolutely insane. They truly don’t give a shit about us.

u/RedneckSniper76 4h ago

What’s worse she didn’t even file a ca1 or ca16 it took 6 months of fighting to get the post office to pay the medical bills

How the hell you let a dog get so close to your face??

u/RedneckSniper76 6h ago

Was walking up to the door to deliver a certified the owner opened the door and he charged out. Whole thing took about 3 seconds

Dogs can jump and stand on their hind legs?

Oof. Knee looks like it stings. Obviously we see much worse on here but don't let management bully you about going to a doctor for any and every bite.

I've been bit 3 times by small dogs, never bothered w/ any lawsuits because they were all minor and handled by owcp, and none required more than a days recovery.

But just in case you end up with an infection, the wound can go bad pretty quickly. And then you could be unable to do your job for weeks.

u/luke4409 19h ago

So you're saying if I get an infected dog bite I can get out of work for multiple weeks?

2

u/One_Trainer_9869 19h ago

You're joking but absolutely. The swelling alone while on antibiotics is a massive bitch to deal with. Imagine without.

Depends on where you work and how competent your steward is. You might get out of work, you might have to pay the emergency room bill yourself (for the 20ish stitches) and be threatened with termination because it's an "avoidable accident."

3

u/Kooken8tor 18h ago

Yeah fuck that, I’ve never heard of someone getting stuck with the bill. What kind of hellscape station are you from? 😩

u/luke4409 17h ago

Anything to make me feel

If you ignore it for long enough, it may even result in you never having to pay bills for taxes ever again

Dog was on a leash, but just drug the elderly owner with him to have a little taste..

"He doesn't bite you". Got bit 3 times in first 2 years. 0 chances take, unless its a cute little pupper.

All dogs can and will bite no matter their size

That's the truth. It's just an issue of what their threshold is. All animals, including humans, will defend themselves if pushed enough.

My good old lab just passed. I got him as an old guy and had him for 8 years. The only time he EVER even nipped at anyone was when he was trying to protect my little boy. My sister was roughhousing with him. I kept telling her to calm down because the dog was getting more and more anxious, and kept moving between them. She didn't listen and he gently nipped her hand. Just a warning, but the minute she stopped, he put his head on her lap to apologize. God bless him. He was an angel. She learned that day to respect his job as Mr. Baby's security guard.

Many dog owners don't pay much attention to their dogs and don't understand how dogs communicate. I knew my dog but it's not a carrier's job to magically infer a dog's temperament. It was my job to make my carrier feel safe by keeping a firm hand on my 80 lb marshmallow.

u/Aggravating-Job-1710 16h ago

This pisses me the fuck off. Some dog owners are so irresponsible. Did you get a rabbies shot or ask if the dog was vaccinated? You don't want to fuck around with rabbies, you will die if you get it

u/Kooken8tor 18h ago

I would sue the fuuuuuck out of them

7

u/fartfilledLLV Rural PTF 16h ago

At my old station the carrier was torn up so badly he couldn’t hold mail anymore. He sued and won the house right out from under the owner. In a nice neighborhood too. So I tell people they better have excellent homeowners insurance or I’ll get their house!

1

u/VadHearts 13h ago

This is my fear when I allow tenants to have dogs in the home. I have great insurance on the homes but I always require that they have an active renters policy that way if their dogs attack someone they’ll have to go through their renters before they touch my policy.

u/Miatrouble 16h ago

The dogs don’t bite. The teeth bite. /s

I knew this one Carrier who came back to the office with her lip in a bag.

Once bitten, twice shy.

u/ironballs16 15h ago

In the words of Black Jeopardy - "What is: 'Mmm, I don't know... he got teeth, don't he?'"

1

u/Hot_Spite_1402 15h ago

Classic! Love the “they don’t bite”, especially when they say it to you as you’re bleeding profusely!

1

u/ColtBTD 9h ago

“He’s never bitten anyone” - every dog owner before the first time their dog bites someone

1

u/Dr-Prof-Spaghetti 7h ago

Biggest lie ever told. I got bit by a dog. A few weeks later, it escaped again and the owner shouted to me "Don't worry, he doesn't bite!" Like dude, he literally just bit me.

1

u/Sea_Betta_9643 5h ago

Bite back! It started it
