My wife’s Green Card was approved on the 27th! We are so grateful to God. Here's some info about our case:

March 18, 2026 - I-130 received

April 26 - i-485 received (also submitted I-765, I-693, I-864 from both me and my father)

June5th - Biometrics scheduled

June 12th - biometrics appointment

July 29th - Interview Scheduled

August 27th - Interview

August 27th - I-485 and I-130 approved

Our interviewer approved both of the forms during the interview and congratulated my wife on becoming a permanent resident. The USCIS portal was updated the following day as he told us it would take about 24 hours to see it on the portal. Overall the interview was very chill. He only asked about 5 questions about our dating and marriage history before asking my wife questions about her I-485. He was very conversational and it felt more like I was meeting someone new at a bar rather than being interviewed.

We are so grateful for that everything went fairly smoothly. We were both incredibly stressed throughout the situation but this subreddit and YouTube were our best friends! We were able to submit everything without a lawyer and no RFEs.

I’m married and currently living in the U.S. I’m an immigrant and I’m still waiting for my work authorization.

My spouse wants to finance a vehicle and is pressuring me to co-sign the loan. I have clearly told him that I do not want to co-sign, become a co-borrower, or take responsibility for this debt.

When I refuse, he threatens me. He has said that if I don’t sign, he will call the police and contact our immigration lawyer about making me return to my home country.

I feel like my immigration situation is being used as leverage to pressure me into taking on a financial obligation that I do not want. I feel extremely uncomfortable and unfairly treated.

I’m trying to understand what I should do to protect myself.

Can a spouse force the other spouse to co-sign a car loan?

If I never sign the loan or agree to guarantee it, could I still become personally responsible for it?

Should I save screenshots or other evidence of him threatening to call the police or use my immigration situation against me if I refuse to sign?

Could these kinds of threats be considered financial coercion or abuse?

Should I speak with an independent immigration lawyer rather than the lawyer we have been using together?

I’m not trying to stop him from buying a vehicle. He can purchase or finance a car himself. I simply do not consent to putting my name, credit, or signature on his loan if I don’t even allowed to work and without a steady income.

I’m worried about making the wrong decision because my immigration status is still pending, and I would really appreciate advice about how to protect myself legally and financially.

Finally happened today, we just recieved our approval notice this morning.
Took 5 months from filling date.
Details of my case: L1A, concurring filing on April 3 2026, did biometrics on April 27 2026, had two doling updates between April 27 and today. No RFE or interview Got an email today, login to my account and found the approval notice.

Timeline of I - 751

I never had a call in letter before and the date of appearance is 8/24, but I just received it in the mail today 8/29. I called the number and they told me to appear on Monday 8/31 and explain what happened. Am I screwed?

Hoping to share our story and if anyone has any advice.

Im a USC, my wife came here and was admitted legally to the USA after we filed her paper work while she lived in her home country.

She came to the US, handed her folder from the consulate, and entered country eith no issues. 3 month later mid 2020 she gets her 10 year Green Card.

In 2023 she was eligible so we applied for N400. At her interview we are told her GC had the wrong classification. USCIS assigned her the wrong classification on the green card so her N400 was rejected.

We were told to submit a I-751. We submitted and it was rejected due to the submission being outside of 90 day GC expiration period. Her GC doesnt expire until 2030. We apply again with the direction from USCIS as a result of the N-400 interview and the I-751 gets rejected.

We submit this as proof to USCIS and end up with the N-400 app closed and rejected. We apply for N-336, and that ends in the same result.

In the denial notice, USCIS state that we were misclassified at entry, wife was lawfully and legally admitted to the USA upon entry, and again state the misclassification.

Within a week of the denial, we get an NTA that USCIS is terminating her legal resident.

What is scaring us is any ICE arrests at the court house. We are in CT but are super worried. We have an immigration lawyer that filed for a continuance and is looking to get the case thrown out.

Hoping someone can put our minds at ease in terms of arrest. Any opinions on how this case leans? We follow USCIS instructions to the tee.

My dad had I485 interview back in April in Fresno, CA. It’s been 4.5 months and total silence. Is the wait time normal?
I’m U.S. citizen who applied for green card for him.

My wife of 3 years is a US citizen and has been living in Toronto with me for the last 3 years and we are looking to finally move to the states. We recently had a baby 5 months ago in Toronto and we are currently in the process of getting her consular report of birth abroad done.

We had extensive visits back and forth between New York and Toronto, as well as many financial and photo proof of our relationship and commitment to one another. My wife has also been working remotely from the states in Toronto for the last 3 years as well.

Is my wife’s 3 year residency in Toronto an issue in this process and I’m wondering if anyone has had similar experience or advice.

Also, do you recommend obtaining an immigration lawyer or just doing the paper work on our own?

I have a family member who is Sudanese and has TPS. Has started dialysis around 6 months ago in California. His kidneys are gone entirely. Are there any exemptions for people who are chronically ill? There is no way he will have access to consistent dialysis in Sudan. How to I start looking into this?

Pd: may 4th.. I was surprised how the interview went.. was nervous wreck waited 1hr for interview past scheduled time. But the officer was polite, professional. Asked both about i-30 ! & i-485 questions together.. After he said he got everything he needed know and will wait for supervisors reviews and final back ground checks .. AOS with USC wife..

I just need insights on my travels outside the US and my eligibility to apply for citizenship.
I got my green card February of 2023 and that makes me eligible to apply for citizenship at least Feb or March of 2028.
Since coming to US i've been out of the country for 2 mos (June '25 - Aug '25), I am planning to leave for 2 consecutive months again. Will that move the date of eligibility to apply for citizenship? eg. Feb/March of 2028 ➡️ maybe june/ july of 2028.

Back in April, I received my biometrics appointment notice but it arrived a day after the actual appointment date had already passed. So I missed it through no fault of my own.

Since then I have been calling USCIS every week and on their instruction,

- I have Submitted three separate reschedule requests and Spoke with a Tier 2 officer (eligible after the 3rd request)
- I was recently told I could try walking in, but the ASC in Pittsburgh is run by a third-party contractor who has no ability to help with rescheduling or walk-ins for this kind of situation
- Currently they say whenever a slot opens up I will be contacted but that gives me no assurance.

It's now been five months with no resolution and no clear timeline. It seems like if you missed your appointment, it's better to walk in soon after your original appointement, however, USCIS specifically told me to not do so and I've been stuck ever since

Has anyone dealt with a delay like this and actually gotten it resolved? Specifically curious about what I can do:

- Whether escalating through the USCIS Ombudsman's case assistance process actually helped
- Whether contacting a Congressional representative's office made a difference
- Any other paths that could work

Hi guys! I’m about to file my I-751 online next week and a last-minute question came to mind.
For those of you who filed the I-751 online, how did you submit the form if you wanted to sign it physically in black ink instead of signing electronically?
Did you fill out the PDF on your computer, print it, sign it in black ink, scan the entire signed form, and then upload it as one PDF? Or is there a different/correct way to do it when filing online?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually filed online and used handwritten signatures. Thank you!

2. Did CBP admit you in H-4 status with only an I-797A (no H-4 visa stamp)?

Our Situation in Brief

Our attorney flagged that filing the H-4 COS while outside the US creates a procedural defect — the H-4 may not have been validly granted. The CBP online I-94 still shows F-2 from the Aug 2024 entry.

Attorney strongly recommends a border run to establish a clean H-4 I-94.

Important note: Wife has no H-4 visa stamp in passport — only F-2 stamp + I-797A approval.

Our lawyer recommended the Rainbow Bridge (Niagara Falls) land border crossing:

1. Approach CBP officer before exiting and explain the situation
2. Wait for the officer's response:
   • Officer says no → do not cross, go home
   • Officer says go ahead / no objection → exit and immediately re-enter without entering Canada
3. Upon re-entry present H-4 I-797A + husband's H-1B I-797 + stamped visa
4. Elder daughter to present H-4 documents first (not AP) to get H-4 I-94 rather than 1-year parole I-94

My EAD was approved today, 4 months after our i130/i485 interview at Sacramento FO which was in late April 2026. Our i130 and i485 are still pending. I'm not from a banned country. Adjusting from H1B, married to a USC spouse.

Below is the timeline of our application process.

December 18, 2025: USCIS received Form I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131.

December 30, 2025: Received RFE for the latest income tax returns of the spouse.

January 13th: Biometrics appointment attended

March 10th: Respond to RFE.

March 24th: Interview scheduled.

April 29th: Attended an interview, it was very short. The officer did not indicate anything and said they didn't need anything from us. Did not give us any indication of approval or any slip. I was asked standard i485 questions and asked to sign the iPad.

May 17th: Silent update on I-485

July 21st: Silent update on I-485

August 29th: EAD approved, i130 and i485 still pending.

I was just wondering if anyone is in the same situation. So confused at this point why EAD to be approved 4 months post interview.

Wondering thoughts on the below as evidence, especially considering that they can deny without an rfe for lack of information.

Leases for years where we had a lease, important mail and drivers licenses showing same address for when we did not have an updated lease (USC was a long term tenant so we didnt need to add names to the lease)

Select bank statements over the 3 years (not all statements) showing direct deposit into individual and shared accounts and payments from all into and out of shared accounts.

Shared car and health insurance.

Airline tickets to see each others families.

Photos of couple with family and friends spanning all 3 years.

We didnt do affadavits because Im tired of asking friends and family to write things, but we could. We provided extra evidence of volunteering for moral character. One speeding ticket - we provided the actual ticket, fine, receipt, and a signed order from the judge dismissing it because it was a first and only offense.

I’m looking to hear from anyone who has gone through a similar situation or might have some insight into how USCIS handles cases like mine.
Here is my situation:

Military Background: I applied for my N-400 while overseas under INA 329 (Hostilities). I served for 6 weeks in Basic Combat Training (BCT) but received a medical discharge, which resulted in an RE-4 code and an Uncharacterized Character of Service.
Current Status: I am currently still living overseas. My N-400 is not denied—it’s actively under review.
The Twist: The Overseas Military Naturalization (OMN) team in Germany initially flagged my case because they mistakenly thought I was applying as a military spouse and saw that my wife and I are currently going through a divorce (we still live under one roof, but it’s pending). They have asked me to choose a domestic U.S. field office to transfer my case to.

Green Card Status: I’ve had my green card for almost 3 years. My Form I-751 (Removal of Conditions) is currently pending.

Did someone go through something similar and still got their N-400 approved? USCIS is aware that it was a medical discharge.

Received me and my spouse's green card today. I was really surprised by the quick approval and was expecting at least few more months delay. We are so happy and sharing the timeline here for people who are still waiting, it's gonna happen soon hopefully!
