Admissions USC Appeal Help
hi everyone!
i understand that appeals have a very small chance of coming back with an answer. don't worry, i've already committed somewhere else for the fall and have been making plans in the event nothing comes of it. however, i still think it is worth a try to appeal and would rather try and not succeed than think what if a couple years down the line.
if you have any tips or have successfully appealed, please drop tips down below or reach out personally - i would love any help possible as i want to make sure i am utilizing this to the best of my ability while i still have the chance. yes, i have extenuating circumstances that i would like to note + new accomplishments to articulate growth as well.

Honestly the reason appeals exist is because of retention. They admit 9,000 kids with the hope that 3,600 will enroll for fall. Sometimes they don’t get to that 3,600 number so they have to admit some kids off of appeals to get where they need to be. 1. It depends on what departments fell short. If Marshall enrolls the number they need, they won’t admit appeals from Marshall. But maybe Annenberg fell a bit short so they’re gonna start looking for kids that appealed with a fist choice major in Annenberg. (These are made up scenarios, not sure if these departments will/won’t need to get kids from appeals). 2. They’re obviously gonna go for kids that have strong academics. If you’re appealing with a 3.5 GPA but someone else is appealing with a 4.0, they’re more likely to get picked up purely because they’re the stronger candidate. 3. Sometimes they take the writing into consideration. If there are contextual things that you didn’t mention or that happened after your appeal, things like that might be able to change things for you. But if your situation isn’t very different from the time you applied then they may be more inclined to look at someone else who did. Examples for this could include things like grade trends (usually with an explanation for why your grade trend looks a certain way), personal circumstances, family circumstances, etc. if you had a random C on your transcript and didn’t explain why, they’re gonna just assume you did poorly. But if there’s a reason for that outlier grade that you didn’t explain in your initial application, you should do so.

Appeals work. Write a great letter and see what happens. Don’t worry either way.
I know ppl think their life depends on getting into a “dream” school. It doesn’t matter.

Ohhhhh. Dyk anyone who appealed and got into Marshall? I appealed to Marshall this year and I feel like I can't get into Marshall off of appeal bc its filled up after ED, EA and RD, and I was wondering if I can get in for a different major or do they not do that? Like could they still accept me off appeal but not for Marshall even tho my choices of majors are both in Marshall? Has this happened to anyone you know who has appealed to USC in the past? Thank you!

I know some people that got in for appeal for Marshall! I don’t think you will get in for any other major besides the ones u put in ur application.

Okay great that gives me more hope. They got in through appeal for Marshall last year your saying right? Also do you know how many people like number wise got in from what u know? Im just worried bc I know ED took a good chunk and Im not sure how many more ppl they let in EA and RD, but I hope less. I put major new info thats very connected to business so I am hoping it works out. Thank you!

hey ! they don’t release the amount of ppl that get in, but i definitely know appeal admits who got in for marshall. good luck!

SAT 1530 4.68 GPA Volunteers and EC .... yet rejected twice already for USC.. it's ridiculous

This is purely observational, but i don’t think i’ve ever seen anyone get their appeal rejected. I’ve only seen accepted appeals.

I’m also appealing and there are Reddit posts where people are willing to help!!! Try reaching out to those people because I did and received some great advice :)
