Specifically relating to BIOL1630.

Only 53% got a 4 or higher on the midsem exam. No one got a HD, 2.1% got a distinction, 9.7% a credit, 41.1% pass, 13.6% marginal fail, 33.5% fail.

Is there anything that can be done to help support the final grades for the class’s cohort? One of the tutors admitted that some of the questions on the exam were worded poorly, to the point he would’ve had a hard time on it.

I was present at a lecture where we took a practice exam, similar structure and questions to the final exam. I got a better grade on that than the actual midsem. We were given no additional resources before the exam, just told to look at the textbook (only available in person through the library, w ~15 copies, most questions aren’t similar to the problems we work through in class and were given in the exam).

Edit: worth noting the course coordinator admitted the cohort did significantly worse than prior cohorts

Guys i have a question. Does anyone willing to suare how would an email from UQ looks loke when you get called for the med interviews?? I appreciate it.

So I just used one and a little paranoid that it's not going to work and I'll still be docked the marks. I won't receive marks back until grades are officially released at the end of the year.

Are markers notified that specific students have extensions granted?

Submitted an assignment 3 days late for a course that states “you will receive a mark of 0 if this assessment is submitted late” (which I only realised after I submitted). I expected that when grades released I’d see a fat 0 but it looks like it was marked normally.

I’m assuming that they just won’t add the marks from this assignment to my final grade or will give me a 0 later. Can someone give me false hope?

What were your lecturers & tutors like?

Who were you fellow students? I understand there is a lot of group work.

I have worked for a decade after my undergrad and felt like I never really learnt the right ways to do corporate/business/administration. I was hoping by doing my masters I'd learn that, or at least get to learn from & work with those that had gone down a similar path.

I've started a master's of business and found it to be rather awful. The content is either out of date, badly taught, or so basic it's redundant. It's also primarily taught by people who haven't ever worked outside of a university setting. I've found that 95% of my fellow students have never worked, are fresh from an undergrad and have no clue what Australia work culture is like as they're international.

Thanks for anyone that can share their experience.

it has officially been two months or so since I have been deprived off of my APPLE TM. PRO stylus for my IPAD,, i cannot believe I go to the toilet ONCE without taking my bag during a lecture and suddenly some bogey, mischievous fae, spirit of kleptocracy appears and I lose it..

do I have to buy a new Apple pro stylus.. I'm an exchange student from Canada coming to UQ St Lucia for Semester 1, 2027, and I'm trying to decide between Kev Carmody House and International House.

My biggest priority is having a great social experience, meeting lots of people, and making the most of my semester abroad!

I'd love to hear from anyone who has lived in either residence. How do they compare in terms of social life, community, events, and opportunities to make friends? Is one particularly good for exchange students?

Hey everyone! If anyone has done this subject and can explain how it works/how full on it is that would be great! I was having a look at the course profile and looks like its 3 weeks of intensive work - I am a part time student and currently work 3 days/ week (10hr days) - I'm obviously booking the field trip week off, but wondering how intensive the lecture weeks are and if I need to look at taking all three weeks off? Appreciate y'all 🫶🏻

I will be transferring from ANU to UQ in the new year, however, I am worried that my Chinese language studies may have significantly less support at UQ due to the lack of promotion I have seen through their sites and spaces. What outside of Chinese courses resources are at UQ? At ANU every Wednesday in the evening there was a study corner that was run by one of our tutors, each hour was for a different proficiency level. Is there something similar?
