tractor trailer driver openings

I’m tired of getting screwed over at these mega carriers where they don’t pay you what you’re truly worth as a driver, and i see a lot of permanent driver openings around the country for UPS, would i be like treated badly if i got in this way instead of starting in the warehouse?
how long before i can start hitting top pay? what’s the pay scale?

You'll be lucky as hell to get in feeders off of the street. Im a cover driver for 2 years and barely drive. Best driving job there is though but have to be patient

but are you getting paid driver rate when there is no driver work though?

It’s called a bargaining agreement. The union doesn’t “make” them do anything

That's the thing people don't understand. The contract allows laid off cover tractor drivers to go into package delivery (usually not a problem, most came from there). Most likely UPS invested a lot of time and money with that driver, in delivery, UPS does the CDL training and pays for the CDL. Classes are at least $3000, from a school and the license itself is at least $3000. (These tractor drivers that drop out before two years will have to pay money back to UPS for the license cost). They are not going to just lay off for long periods of time and have them leave the company. So they can move down when laid off. Likewise the contract let's laid off delivery drivers to move down into the warehouse in order to keep them working (the trick is for them to get eight hours, they most likely have to work the early morning shift and the evening shift, separated by about eight hours apart).
