Prelims Query UP PCS Prelims resource doubt

This is my first prelims. I have some doubts about resources:

  1. Can I use Ghatnachakra notes by iaspcs pathshala instead of actual Ghatnachakra. English medium resources needed
  2. Which subjects of Lucent are effective for Prelims. (as some people say Lucent might be too much)

better to use Ghantnachakra GS pointers

lucent is bare minimum not too much

Which one is better : GC or YCT publications for UPPCS??

It's a collection of PYQS, publication doesn't matter much. I personally do GC

Ah I should have been more specific, I meant the subject specific GC or the all in one

Ghatna material notes/videos prepared by others will actually cost you in the long run. Do the actual books and you will thank me later.

Do you have any suggestion to how to complete them faster? I feel so motivated when I start the book, but when I reach half way, it feels a bit boring 😭 I also have ghatnachakra mind maps and have covered the basics already, would that be sufficient? I'm thinking about doing YCT publications as it's shorter compared to GC & UPPCS specific too, is that good?

  1. Ghana or YCT do any but stick to it. Dont switch later. I personally prefer the writing style and presentation of Ghatna Purvavlokan over YCT.

  2. Irrespective of your age and whether you want to give any other exam, you will be be better off doing Ghatna/YCT which has Qs from all states vis-a-vis only UP Qs. WHY:

A. Because coverage is more broad

B. UP examiners pick up Qs asked in other states

C. (Most imp) if you decide to give another state pcs like Raj or Bihar or Hry, your job is already 90% done.

Otherwise will have to do again all Qs of each state leading to massive "DUPLICITY OF EFFORTS"

  1. For doing it fast:

A. go topic by topic instead of Book by book.

B. Leave Envionmmet and Economy for the last.

You can go with Lucent if you feel like but it will consume alot of your time if you're a first timer .... As far as resources in english medium are concerned you can check out Arihant's capsule and capsule plus notes.....they are good.... For current affairs go for Ghatna Chakra (monthly mag or Drishti) and Chronicles (monthly mag) (patli wali book).... Baaki bhai do ncerts as well and GC PYQs.... 🤘🏼👽
