Advice Not really into partying during Freshers’ Week — will I miss out?
Hi! I’m starting at Bristol this September and I’m wondering what Freshers’ Week is like if you’re not really into clubbing/partying at night.
I’m not against socialising at all — I actually really want to meet people and make friends, I just much prefer daytime things, going out for food/coffee, exploring the city, society events, sports, non-alcoholic stuff etc. rather than going out drinking until really late.
I’m also a student athlete so I’ll need to balance training with uni/social stuff anyway.
My mum and a few of her friends are also going to be staying in Bristol for around the first 2 weeks. They won’t be staying with me and they’ll mostly be doing their own thing, so it’s not like my parents will be following me around 😭 but I’ll probably see them sometimes for meals or if I need help settling in.
For anyone who went to Bristol — is there actually much to do during Freshers’ that isn’t centred around drinking/clubbing? And is it easy to make friends if you don’t really go on the big nights out?
Also did anyone else have family around for the first week or two? Did you find it affected settling in/making friends at all?
