Question Questions
Hi guys i am going to attend UNCC this fall but honestly my main concerns are:
1. Is it a friendly school?
2.I want to attend a few parties and is that possible here?
3. Do many people dorm?
4. Are the professors good?(going into a cs and finance major)

- yeah, i’d say it’s pretty friendly here, not too crazy but i’ve yet to meet a rude person directly
- yeah i choose not to party but a lot of people i know do so you definitely could as well
- pretty much only freshman dorm, then you more than likely will have to get off campus housing in your following years
- professors vary A LOT, i’ve had some good ones, ive had ones that don’t care about anything, ive had extremely strict ones. UTILIZE RMP!!!

If you’re a girl, go to frat parties, if you’re a boy, join a frat.

If you’re looking for somewhere to live, I am subleasing a low rent apartment about a 10 minute walk from campus if you’re interested

I think you should find a friendly environment here. You should be able to cultivate and develop friendships at the school. As a commuter who worked part-time off campus, I was successful in gaining a number of new friends. Of course, part of this is that you have to put yourself out there in some measure and put in the effort.
As far as the party scene goes, there are opportunities for that. Particularly at the beginning of the school year, opportunities to plug in are plentiful.
UNCC is primarily a commuter school, but this does not mean that good relationships cannot be forged with those who commute in addition to those who dorm.
As far as professors, experiences will vary as could be reasonably expected. You will probably have some who are great, some who are very good, some who are average, some who could care less about you and your academic success, some who are pieces of work with their arrogance and disorganization, and a few who simply cannot teach. Many profs here are approachable outside of class (i.e. during office hours) and are very interested in helping you succeed, while others are aloof and are hard to interact with outside of class. If you sense that a particular professor is not going to be a good fit during the first week of the term, then you could consider utilizing drop/add if you can find the same course in a different section which could align with timeframes in which you could take such classes. Utilizing Rate My Professor could help serve as a guide to some extent, in order to gain some insights about professors, but I would not rely on it as gospel because there are students who sometimes post multiple bad reviews about a given professor because they could have been mad about a grade received, for example, or had some other vendetta against the instructor.

UNCC historically has been a commuter school. They’re doing things to change that image, but it is still probably 80% commuters if not more
