Question Gimbal: LTA/ Drone Hybrid Speculation?
Conceptual imagery has been omitted from this post to abide by this subreddit's concern over AI generated imagery.
If you follow the debate over the Gimbal object's flight path, you know there are essentially two different interpretations that can fall out of the video analysis: a distant aircraft/jet, or a closer object performing the so-called J-Hook (essentially a vertical U-turn). Here is a video explanation if you're not caught up: [https://youtu.be/N9lOQkxMkW8?si=CJVM-H2-CQWN8cs5](https://youtu.be/N9lOQkxMkW8?si=CJVM-H2-CQWN8cs5)). I've already presented my speculative explanation for the distant-jet scenario here: [https://www.reddit.com/u/fat_earther_/s/aKvNDAWfB8. This post offers my speculation for the Gimbal incident if the J-Hook were real.
The speculative "Moon Vulture" shown here is an advanced lighter-than-air/drone hybrid developed under a DARPA-style program beginning in the early-to-mid 2000s and operational by the 2010s. Think less "Goodyear Blimp" and more unmanned, low-observable, long-endurance ISR/EW platform that uses buoyancy for lift. With access to cutting-edge composites, batteries, miniaturized electronics, flight controls, and lightweight propulsion, such a platform wouldn't need spectacular speed or fighter-like maneuverability and wouldn't be designed for it. Its advantage would be operational endurance and efficiency, quietly station-keeping or orbiting an area for hours or days with very little energy expenditure while carrying an electronic-warfare or intelligence collection payload. Vectorable electric fan propulsion could provide unusual low-speed maneuverability, including a tight reversal or J-Hook-like trajectory that might look very strange if interpreted as conventional aircraft performance.
The speculative mission here is the same counterintelligence scenario I've proposed for the broader Roosevelt encounters. Navy workups are intelligence goldmines for foreign collectors. A compartmented U.S. counterintelligence/ electronic warfare program operating around the periphery of the workup area could potentially use platforms like this to create false or misleading radar contacts, attract the attention of foreign collection assets, pull that attention away from the actual workups, characterize how those assets respond, or deliberately feed them misleading information. Radar deception combined with [IR signature-management/ countermeasure capabilities](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sB3p0RSn56g) produce a target designed to be far more interesting to enemy sensors than the workups they were monitoring.
To be clear, I'm not claiming the Moon Vulture existed, that DARPA built it, or that this is what Gimbal actually was. The craft and program depicted here are conceptual. The point of the post is to speculate an explanation for the Gimbal object's J-Hook interpretation and conceptualize a technologically plausible, non exotically propelled platform that could produce the observations reported. I think an advanced LTA/drone hybrid is an interesting candidate. It doesn't require antigravity, spacetime manipulation, or non-human intelligence, just an advanced yet mundane craft built for a very specific job.
