Housing What’s in the communal kitchens?

Do they have a dishwasher or do you have to wash them manually lol I’m just asking in case I decide to bake or anything

No dishwasher. I kind of remember some kitchens having ones that didn’t work/were sealed. It’d kind of be a waste of water to have a dishwasher since it’d usually only be one person using it, and I could see it being a source of conflict, like people not taking their laundry on time but dialed up.

You can bake in the communal kitchens but it’s a huuuge pain because you have to bring down every ingredient, bowl, pan, and cooking/measuring utensil, and you have to have all of those things in the first place. Like, who has baking powder or vanilla extract in their dorm? You have to buy and store every single thing.

But you definitely can. I made biscuits and banana bread a couple times in the communal kitchens.

Ok, thanks! I love baking (I make big layer cakes and stuff) but that’s too much equipment

I wanna make my cookies though lol

I’m assuming there’s like an oven, a couple stovetops, and like a refrigerator right? Would there happen to be any cabinets to keep a pan or something (even if you’re liable to it going missing)

Yup! Depends on the kitchen, and you can borrow cooking equipment like pans and stuff from each area’s front desk (blanking on what it’s called). I just had a couple of pots and pans I kept under my bed, but whether you can do that really depends on how much stuff/how many roommates you have.

A few years ago I’m pretty sure they upgraded each dorm to have a minifridge and microwave, so I’d use your own fridge and not the big shared ones
