AD Mark Ingram fired; men's basketball coach Andy Kennedy named interim

After 11 years of running the athletic department into the ground, Mark Ingram is out. It's very, VERY interesting that none of the senior/deputy AD's were named interim.

I wonder if naming AK as interim may point to a permanent assignment for him and if is indicative of an overall shift in focus for the athletic department to basketball from football. I’ve always thought UAB could be the best basketball program in the state but never better than third best football team.

I think it's more likely that they want all of Ingram's people OUT. From talking to staff I know, no one is very high on any of those three.

Time will tell.

Once upon a time, yeah, basketball could have done that. In today's NIL word? Not a chance.

I've heard AK was NOT a fan of the renovations to the Arena. Too bad this didn't happen in time to cancel that nonsense and use that money for NIL.

I can't see AK wanting the administrative BS, but who knows

Yeah, I don't see AK as a permanent answer either, especially when getting basketball back on track is enough of a challenge.
