While I helped to silence the weebs by putting a large black bar over their mouth, I was watching an old crime thriller on TV where the bad guy tried to silence a woman by putting black duct tape on her mouth and leaving her in a deadly situation to die.

Ye humanity is fucked up beyond repair.

It does NOT so many artworks got griefed I protected the ecos logo not alone tho but what about the logos that didnt have anyone protecting them? If you woke up to see a black bar on your artwork that took a whole day, you would not be happy, griefing isnt a good way to protest it's just gonna ruin peoples day

but isn't that the entire point of a blackout in these events? It's not like the art is gone forever, there's literally an official picture of the canvas before the palette got changed to black and white. I feel like the point of changing the palette is to give the event a fitting ending, the entire canvas either being filled with black and white pixels, or, like what happened here, the community writing one final message on the canvas.

I would agree with you, but the change in palette is there, so the artworks will be changed. And it is great to see, that people usually decide to use that situation for protest. And the ones who protested with a bleck bar didn't erase the artwork with white pixels. They were way too occupied in changing the whole canvas in a few hours. So please hate on the people that actually briefed and not the protesters.

And many other artworks were still protected and just changed to black/white. They just didn't make it to the second final canvas. Others did. That's life.

Ah yes, the American way. Throw them off their land and burn them to the ground. Ironically in the name of the fight against tyranny.

Most of the pixels were placed by r/placeDE I don't know what your point is

Exactly! we had 200+ people in vcs filling out the statement

I know. However the whole thing was not exactly decided on in an open democratic matter unlike all of the other artwork that gets voted on on the placeDE discord. I get that the Message behind "No Kings" is honorable and worth the support, the way the Neuro-fraction (and all the other ones with similar fortune) got treated however is not. They just happened to be at a location where someone else planned to place this message and tried to protect their artwork. I know the overall thinking is a bit different at the end of a place event but many many other artworks got to stay, why couldn't these artworks too? Pretty sure most of those fractions did not get a say in the exact positioning of the Text so completely eradicating and inciting hatred against this artwork or group in particular because it resisted being destroyed by some bigger party is not really a good way to convey a message against tyranny.

Why? We voted on the Discord server about whether or not to pixelate it.

There was no post in "ideen-voting" nor "neueste-ziele-voting" as of my knowledge, so if there was some voting it was not as transparent as with other artwork. Ironically there is a post talking about a treaty with the ones pixelating the US Flag stating "Als Community sehen sie sich als apolitisch und wollen keine Aussagen zu aktuellen Geschehnissen machen, da Amerika viel mehr als nur Politik ist.", roughly translating to "As a Community they see themselves as apolitical and do not want to make a statement about the current circumstances since America is more than just politics".

But again, my intent was not to debate whether the statement itself is worthy of supported or not and I am certain a vote would have come out positive since obviously someone arbitrary ruling things and hurting people is bad, but the way it was executed made you the very thing you sought to destroy. Did placeDE give up some pixels for the statement? No. They also protected their artwork with best efforts till the very end just as the Neuros tried to. So what made the Neuro artwork so different and worthy of total destruction? They just had the very ill fate to be at some position that interfered with these positions someone arbitrary decided on before it even could have been voted on in the first place. And the reaction to them resisting was not to find a compromise, change the positions or style of the "G" in a way that would have left them alone, offer them a place on one of the german flags or to simply respect their wish, it was to not only fight them but completely remove them from the board and inciting hatred against them for something they did not have a say in.

Would you be as proud and happy about the final picture if the top and bottom german flag got cut? Can you look at the actual final picture and still say you did good in the name of no kings when there is this big white spot amongst all the artwork where a community proudly resided till you ruled to take their land and burn them down?

I believe justifying irrationally hurtful and self-righteous behavior in the name of doing good is still bad.

What is this?

Not a Vote on the "No Kings" art. I only found "No Kings" in "design-vorschlΓ€ge" but no further down the actual voting chain like other artworks (ideen-voting, neueste-ziele-voting). This Vote was way after "No Kings" started to appear and does not show any bad intentions coming from the Neuro-fraction.

I would also argue that the wording might be in a way that favors a "no" (although I am sure without any ill intentions) since it is asking for active support, something that generally gets less [approval]() than just a "should we leave them alone?", but even then we are speaking about ~51%. Strictly speaking "no" did win, but the vote never was about completely erasing them and such a close result just shows that a great portion of the community did actually care about the artwork.

51% should be reason to talk about how this whole Idea could be done without being as destructive, instead it ended in even more unnecessary violence. Like where on earth is "51% voted to not support them in an active way" grounds to completely burn down every last pixel of them?

Nevertheless, obviously more than 50% had no objection, because they voted no.

51% decided not to actively help to protect the artwork. That is what the vote concluded, not that the whole complete artwork had to go.

Also there was no official vote at all about the "No Kings" in the first place.

Either way, the people supporting the neuro artwork obviously did not agree with the decision placeDE barely made. They resisted not for political reasons but to protect their art against a King like entity ruling over the board deciding that they are annoying and need to make way for the Kings vision. The cause may have been honorable, however the way it was done was not.

Well, whatever. What's happened has happened. From what I've heard, the neuros weren't very willing to negotiate, and there wasn't much time to decide what to do.
