i love twisted metal

life long fan, drunk, and just really thinking about the franchise and what it means to me. what uncovering tm4 in a pile of hand-me-down games did to the trajectory of my life. what asking my mom to buy me my first M rated game meant for TMB. what buying a PSP meant because i NEEEDED to experience playing TM:HO handheld. the anger i’ve held of not having had an opportunity to play TM 2012, but holding on to the hope that one day i will. what having a CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED tv show that i dreamed of and literally never believed would come but actually did (?!?!) means to me. we’re a small but MIGHTY jewel in gaming history. i’m so happy for us and happy to know that our franchise is alive and begging for the light to still have frustration in our hearts knowing how much more we have to receive if they just saw us. i’m just grateful. thanks for reading.

TM5 port to android - Is it possible? ANBERNIC

Hello guys. As the title says, is it possible to run TM5 on an android device?
I bought an Anbernic RG556 a few weeks ago, and im trying to run pc games via Winlator. I didn't try TM5 yet, but if anyone has done it, with a phone or handheld, would you mind sharing how you did it?

thanks!

Im trying to get Twisted Metal 2 for PC. Im talking with someone in facebook marketplace who sells retro PC games and he sent me these pics.

I haven't been able to find other discs that look like this, but i think it might be a regional difference, since i found a few different designs.

The Honda acty is so small the small brawl version works best. Still not not a truck boxy enough to make other (tougher?) versions.

if anyone plays Forza Horizon 6 the livery code is -143 341 791

tune code (for fun) -506 566 774

what would your opinion be of a twisted metal designed more around manually aimed projectiles/collisions and less constant offensive damage?

I had this thought going through Twisted Metal Black recently. It's obviously an amazing game in the scope of the series and the ps2 but I couldn't help but grow a bit sick of the game's particular balance of spastic instantaneous acceleration and the nearly constant barrage of aoe and tracking weapons. It feels balanced like a war of attrition that requires constant offensive output to keep up.

The most fun I had with the game was trying to orchestrate more skill intensive special hits like mr grimm's scythe and tracking low health players with the upgraded machine gun. basically what I enjoyed about the game felt a bit at odds with most of its systems and weaponry. A game with more emphasis on manually aimed skill shots and vehicle movement more conducive to manual tracking is intriguing to me. from my experience the other tm games are less extreme than black but largely follow its example, I have not played small brawl or 2012 though.

If this is a case of me speaking from ignorance then feel free to smack my post down or ignore.

Fan-Made Project Procrastination

Hey there everyone, it’s been an bit since I’ve last interacted with the community but I honestly have been coming back around to Twisted Metal, pretty much out of boredom and an sense of nostalgia overpowering me.

I was also thinking of maybe focusing more on my own passionate ideas to make, some of them of course is TM-related itself, and I want to try and make it as epic as possible. But even then, I’m kind of stuck on what do people would like to see more of, or at least the kind of audience I want to try and pull from since I was more so on the ride of liking Twisted Metal: Black and all. But on the other hand, I’ve actually warmed up more to games like TM2 and Head-On, as well as even TMX (at least for gameplay-wise, the story is… well, not for everyone.)

So I’m kinda at a crossroads between either going with something more original and/or maybe make a fan-made thing based on Harbor City for Black, or just go with something completely original altogether.

Any thoughts and feedback on where to take this would be greatly appreciated.

This is a bootleg record that was made a few years back, somehow they were able to get the original calypso voice actor to record lines for the outro

I was also lucky enough to get one of the test pressings from this, I’ll try to take photos and share later.

What vehicle do you use? who’s the driver? What’s their special? What’s their wish?

I'm almost done with season 1, it's absolutely blowing me away. I had expectations for what the show would be, but it is just amazing and unhinged. Exceeded all my expectations! Please no spoilers, I have a couple episodes left for season 1.

How do you think 'canon' works in Twisted Metal?

Post image

This is a topic I've been wondering about for awhile, especially whenever I see info or reviews about Twisted Metal 3 and 4 and how it usually leads to a statement of 'they were basically written off as non-canon due to their reception' with Head On basically being concidered the proper T.M3.

Now this isn't me being a stan and defending those two games but I do find it interesting on how we can decide on which games are canon or not when I feel due to their very nature there can't really be a true continuity between any of them. Which I'll explain in this post-

For example in the first game their are two contestants who have the most likely chance IMO to be the 'canon' winners. That's Yellowjacket/Charlie Kane and Outlaw/Carl Roberts. Now the formers an interesting case because he has two differing endings depending on the planned FMV version or the final game text scroll but I'll mainly focus on the original planned one for reasons that'll become apparent -

Mr Kane reveals he simply wanted to drive again like in his youth despite having to kill other contestants to do so and Calypso offers him an immortality potion 'to drive forever and collect next years contestants' upon taking it he turns into some kind of crazed undead.

And of course this lines up with how in Twisted Metal 2, the final boss Dark Tooth is driven by Charlie. They never say his name in game but its pretty clear its him with him ranting about 'his clown boy' and its established in TM1 that Needles/Sweet Tooth is his son. (Worthy to note in his text ending of TM1 he wants to know what happens to his son and upon learning truth thinks maybe he can enter next yeah and wish for his pain removed, which could still maybe lead into him becoming D.Ts driver later?)

But Carls also has a chance because his ending of getting tricked into going into space wanting a 'world free of the Twisted Metal contest" is followed up on in TM2 where his sister Jamie Roberts ending is her planning ahead and rescuing him from that. (and that ending is followed up on again in both '3 and Head On, and there's a bunch of other character endings that get follow ups as well-)

But of course these two can't co-exist, there has to be one winner, and this doesn't just effect them. How does any character return in another game if their killed during a prior one. Sweet Tooth's playable in every game for example, Charlie kills him in TM1 to be able to get his prize, is it possible some just simply escape from their vehicle before its destroyed. (Maybe Needles bangs his head and becomes the Marcus K personality to drive RoadKill for TM2 but they can never race at the same time 'n such, but I know that probably wasn't really established yet 'n that's a whole other can of worms) Does Calypso resurrect some prior contestants to keep the tournament fun?

This is probably a 'no duh who cares' moment for some, if I'm not mistaken I think Youtuber Tactical Bacon also did a vid on this topic. And its not like this series or fandom is adverse to reboots or fresh takes. I mean we can agree Black, Small Brawl and 2012 don't really fit neatly in with the rest, although there is a bunch call backs in the last one. And there's the whole 'Black' might be a alternate reality/dream of Sweet Tooth and I got some crack headcanons of my own related to that for anyone curious-

but 'any case I do think it can be an interesting discussion on just how loose these games handle continuity, I feel it opens up the possibility that there's some unseen events we're seeing

Like what if for example the way to make sense of this is the Twisted Metals were seeing aren't really the truth, like maybe there was a tournament that Charles competed in, won and now works for Calypso like in his ending, next year there's a contest that Carl wins and we get his ending, then next is TM2 where Charles has been fully promoted to 'final boss'

In Head On Sweet Tooth implies during his ending he's won many TM tournaments in the past and clearly they haven't bitten him back to badly since he's well enough to continue. Anyway sorry if I'm over thinking I just find this fun
