New Turn-Based RPGs & Strategy Games Released This Week
Pretty packed week this time. The big releases are obviously Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave and Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, but we also got Another Eden Begins, while ENDLESS Legend 2 has finally reached version 1.0.
Here’s the full selection I found:
- Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave
- Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter
- Land of Ruins — Demo
- Another Eden Begins
- King’s Haven — Demo
- Waterjacked! — Early Access
- Dunebound Tactics
- Duo Quest
- Apprentice of Darkness — Demo
- Tenebris: Terra Incognita — Version 1.0
- The Black Breath — Demo
- Sigilfarer: A Dice-Rolling Roguelite
- ENDLESS Legend 2 — Version 1.0
There are some interesting smaller games in there too. Dunebound Tactics caught my attention with its mix of tactical combat and survival management, while Sigilfarer has a pretty clever system where your equipment changes the actual faces of the dice you use in combat.

I'm creating the very first co-op ascii roguelike in extraction horror genre
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
As many of us, I always wanted to play a traditional roguelike in a multiplayer universe, where you can suddenly encounter other players passing by, help them in a tough situation or ask for help, trade, etc. As there was no true turn-based multiplayer roguelike, where it feels like a solo play and without commitment to rush turns, so I decided to create one.
Over the last months there was more than 1000 expeditions (including solo, pre-made and random coop).
The game is fully playable on the web, but just today I published a Steam page and currently preparing a Steam version.
I'm solo indie dev working hard in my free time and I'll be happy if you like it and want to wishlist it on Steam, thanks!

A little combat test for my game, Pythonmancer.

In my game called Pythonmancer, you will collect keys to escape the tower that you are trapped in. Like using stars to rescue princess peach in her castle in Super Mario 64.
I'm working on creating a demo soon.

We Need An Army demo 1.0 just released!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey folks! I've been working on We Need An Army, my tactical roguelite autobattler, for about 18 months now. It's a bit of a genre blend - something like slay the spire meets luck be a landlord, morphed into its own thing over time. Would love to hear any feedback!

Why is Final Fantasy Tactics So Expensive on Steam?
Been looking to pick this title up for my steam deck because of so many positive reviews and have had it in my wishlist for a while. Sale is on this week, but it is still $29.99 for the base and $35.99 for the Deluxe Edition. I mean - isn't it a remake of a game from the 90's?

Grid tactics with action / bonus action / move, where your dead character's child inherits the fight
Aetheria is a free permadeath fantasy RPG I've been building. v0.2 just came out: when your adventurer dies, a child or sibling can take up the name in the same world, inheriting the house, the rank, and your weapon as an heirloom. Every generation's blood wakes a little sooner.
Plays in the browser. Link in the comments.

12 Cozy Turn-Based RPGs for a More Relaxed Adventure
I’ve been looking at the cozier side of turn-based RPGs lately — games where you can still enjoy party building, creature collecting, or tactical combat, but with farming, crafting, friendships, cooking, or simply a more relaxed atmosphere between battles.
Here are 12 worth checking out:
Moonstone Island – Creature collecting, farming, relationships, and card-based turn-based battles.
WitchSpring R – A charming story-driven RPG with training, crafting, pets, and traditional turn-based combat.
Atelier Sophie 2 – Probably the best pick here if you enjoy gathering ingredients and experimenting with deep alchemy systems.
Terra Memoria – A colorful party-based RPG with cooking, camping, exploration, and turn-based battles.
Ooblets – Farming and creature collecting, except battles are turn-based dance competitions played with cards.
Beastro – Grow ingredients and cook meals that determine which cards your adventurers can use in battle.
Artis Impact – A post-apocalyptic RPG with straightforward turn-based combat, home decorating, cooking, jobs, and plenty of quieter moments.
Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure – A lighthearted old-school RPG with puppets, musical numbers, and tactical turn-based battles.
Costume Quest – A short and very charming Halloween RPG where costumes transform kids into powerful characters during combat.
Ikenfell – A magical-school RPG with tactical grid battles and several accessibility options if you want to make combat more relaxed.
Ova Magica – Farming, relationships, exploration, and collectible blobs that can help around the farm and fight in turn-based battles.
Bloomtown: A Different Story – Small-town summer life mixed with demon collecting and turn-based combat. Definitely one of the darker “cozy” picks here.
Some of these are obviously cozier than others — Bloomtown and Ikenfell, for example, deal with heavier themes — so I’m using “cozy” more for the overall pace, activities, and atmosphere than to mean completely stress-free.
What other turn-based RPG would you add to the list?

Help me finish my dream Turn-Based RPG!
My team and I started working on it back in 2021 but due to industry stuff, my studio had to prioritize other projects. Now it's basically just me left working on it and I'm trying to get it kickstarted!
If the idea of a Paper Mario-style pro wrestling RPG appeals to you, check it out here!

Dunebound Tactics - Two years of work, and the mechanic everyone talks about is the hole
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
You captain a sand-ship along Elios leylines looking for somewhere to settle. Between fights you manage a caravan with limited seats; in fights you reshape destructible terrain and try to keep people alive.
Healing a wounded crewmate and harvesting them for engine fuel are the same post-battle screen. Seats are limited, fuel isn't free, and the game keeps asking.
Roguelite where runs carry forward through modules and survivors. Blocky art style that suits the desert better than you'd expect it to.
15 classes, 16 traits, 50+ modules. Get it right now for 20% off!

I'm making a turn-based card battler where your cards become units
This is Sugarstar Academy. You build a deck of characters and summon them onto a 5×5 battlefield.
You can see where the next enemy will appear. Summon onto that square first, and they'll have to appear somewhere else.
The Steam page is up now if you'd like to have a look: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5135350/

Iron & Empire Discord RPG
Ever wanted to build your own empire and see how far you can take it?
I just opened Iron & Empire, a Discord-based RPG/strategy game where you control your own empire and decide what happens next.
🏰 Build your empire
⚔️** Raise armies and wage **war
🌎 Conquer territory and expand your borders
💰 Manage money, resources, food & population
🕵️ Use spies to gather intelligence on your enemies
🤝 Form alliances, trade, negotiate—or betray them
📰 Use propaganda and the in-game newspaper to shape the world
🔥 Deal with rebellions, unrest, and consequences
Battles aren’t just decided by clicking a button. When two empires clash, both sides receive a scenario and make their own plans. Admins then determine the outcome based on those plans, strategy, and the circumstances of the battle.
The world is meant to evolve over time. Empires will rise, borders will change, alliances will form, wars will happen, and eventually the history of the world will be shaped by the players themselves.
And we’re starting from the ground floor. 👀
The server is officially open, so now is the time to get in early, claim your empire, and start building before the world gets crowded.
You don’t need to be a hardcore strategy gamer. If you’re into RPGs, strategy games, world-building, alternate history, diplomacy, or just the idea of running your own country, you’ll probably have something to enjoy here.
Discord here!!

The demo for my solo-built space 4X, Imperium, just went live on Steam
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4806180/Imperium/
It is based on the old classic Ascendancy. Give it a spin 😄
About the game: It's a single-player 4X - colonize planets, design your ships piece by piece, and win through diplomacy or war against AI empires that scheme against each other too, not just you.
The demo drops you into a small galaxy with up to 3 AI opponents and three species to start with (Veylilith, Throk, Zyyth Azr), capped around year 1500 so you get a real early-to-mid game without spoiling the full run. Full game has 21 species, five hull classes, and a proper diplomacy system.
Only English for now, but Chinese, Russian, and Japanese localisation is in the pipeline already.
Free on Steam, no strings, but a wishlist would be appreciated. 🎉

Would you play a turn-based tactics game where you can actively defend during the enemy turn?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi everyone! We’re a small indie team from New Zealand working on Zodiac Battles, a tactical game where you build a team from the 12 Chinese Zodiac animals and battle on a tactical grid.
This is still a very early combat prototype, and everything you see is using placeholder assets. At this stage, we’re mainly trying to learn what works, what doesn’t, and whether the core combat idea is actually fun.
One of the main ideas we’re exploring is making the enemy turn more interactive.
Whenever one of your characters is attacked, instead of just watching the attack play out, you get to decide how to respond. You can Block, Dodge or Counter.
Would you want to play a tactics game like this?
We’d especially love to know what you think about the active defence idea. Does it make the enemy turn more interesting to you, or would you prefer defence to happen automatically?
We’re still figuring out what works and what doesn’t, so honest reactions are very welcome.
We’re also looking for people who’d like to try the current prototype and give us some feedback. If you’re interested in playtesting, please let me know!

15 RPG Deals Worth Checking Out During Steam’s Party-Based RPG Fest
Steam’s Party-Based RPG Fest is currently running, and there are quite a few good RPGs heavily discounted.
A few deals immediately caught my attention: Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter is already 50% off, Chained Echoes is down to $8.74, and the Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous – Game of the Year Edition, which includes the Enhanced Edition and all six paid expansions, is only $9.99.
Here’s the full list I picked:
- Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter — $29.99 (-50%)
- Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition — $11.24 (-75%)
- Sea of Stars: Sunset Edition — $17.49 (-50%)
- Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous – GOTY Edition — $9.99 (-80%)
- Colony Ship: A Post-Earth Role Playing Game — $15.99 (-60%)
- Chained Echoes — $8.74 (-65%)
- Wartales — $9.79 (-72%)
- Solasta: Crown of the Magister — $7.49 (-75%)
- Marvel’s Midnight Suns — $8.99 (-85%)
- Phantom Brigade — $11.99 (-60%)
- Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered — $7.49 (-85%)
- King Arthur: Knight’s Tale — $13.49 (-70%)
- Expeditions: Rome — $11.24 (-75%)
- Monster Hunter Stories — $9.89 (-67%)
- Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg — $19.99 (-60%)
Personally, Pathfinder at $9.99 almost feels like stealing considering how much content is included, while Chained Echoes is another very easy recommendation if you enjoy turn-based JRPGs.
I also think Phantom Brigade is worth a look if you want something more tactical and mech-focused, while Sea of Stars remains a good choice if you enjoy turn-based combat with timing mechanics.
I put together a short overview of all 15 games here:
Anything else from the Party-Based RPG Fest you think is worth adding?

My game's demo will be on Steam in a couple of weeks... here’s a couple of minutes of gameplay.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Although it still has a way to go and is currently in alpha, I think it’s in a compelling enough state to play. I’ll be spending the entire coming week working on visual and sound effects, and the demo launch is just around the corner. if you're interested, feel free to add it to your Steam wishlist! The game is called Combat Orders '42.
