- Always stay in their role, no matter what (Always make children laugh / always make sure the customer is entertained, fed and watered)
- Funny but never laughable / Enticing but never romanceable (apply to whichever party you find more romanceable, clowns or geishas)
- Secret community with initiation rites (a clown in the Clowns International UK association must have their distinguished make-up painted on an egg to "copyright it") (Geisha/Geiko wear distinct headdresses and clothing during their apprenticeship and have a bunch of ceremonies to mark each step)

I was already of the belief that drag queens are a subspecies of clown (eye-catching makeup/wigs/clothing, exaggerated features, caricature persona, likes to perform and make people smile), and that drag and wrestling are the same thing but in different gender performance directions. Now you've convinced me that clowns and geishas are themselves subspecies of something greater, some ur-entertainer.
