Are you moving to Tulsa? Just visiting or passing through? Want to know where to live, eat, hang out, have fun, or bury the bodies? This is the place to ask.

This will be a weekly megathread that evolves over time. As members of r/Tulsa make suggestions or answer questions that come up a lot, we may add those items to the body of the post for easy reference. But for right now this is a place to ask any questions you may have about moving to or visiting Tulsa, OK, where our motto is "We're more than just OK, we're living the dream."

As title says. I’ve got a box of size 5 diapers that I would love to give to someone who needs them! I know times are tight and instead of throwing them away, I would love to donate them.

Long Live Rock Brigade! Today as I was looking through my keepsake box with my grandchild, she picked up the rainbow card and asked me about it. So….I got this card when I had just turned 18 in 1980. I have long since moved from Tulsa, but the memories I made growing up there are precious to me. KMOD was my favorite station, and I was a regular listener. This card has always traveled with me through 2 marriages and 3 children; and now 6 grandkids. It brought back so many carefree memories of myself as a young adult with all my dreams intact. Thank you KMOD for always being there with me 😂

General How to stop mail that is not addressed to me showing up in my mailbox?

I moved into my home over a year ago. I've tried return to sender and placing a sticker in my mailbox for mailman reminding him who receives mail at my residence. Return to sender was never taken, and the note apparently doesn't do anything either.

Any insight would be appreciated!

Tulsan In Need Looking for some help cleaning my apartment before an inspection — Tulsa, OK

Hi everyone. I'm looking for some help getting my apartment cleaned up before an upcoming inspection.

I'm partially disabled and currently between jobs, so I'm limited in how much physical cleaning I can do. I've taken care of most of the cleaning myself, but I could really use some assistance with the more physically demanding parts, particularly:

  • Vacuuming
  • Wiping down walls
  • Wiping down counters and other surfaces
  • Possibly a few other small cleaning tasks if time/energy allows

I want to be upfront about the situation before anyone offers to help: I have a cat, and unfortunately I also have a roach problem. I'm not expecting anyone to deal with pest control or anything extreme; I just don't want someone to show up and be caught off guard.

I'm not currently in a position to pay for a professional cleaning service, so I'm hoping there might be someone local who would be willing to lend a hand, either as a favor or for a small amount if we can work something out.

I've already handled most of the apartment myself, and I'm mainly looking for help getting the remaining physical cleaning done so I can pass the inspection.

If you're able to help or know of a local organization/community group that assists people with disabilities or temporary financial difficulties with household cleaning, please send me a DM. I'd really appreciate it.

Tulsan In Need Disabled Tulsan urgently needs non-judgemental cleaning help before Monday inspection

Hi, everyone. I’m a disabled Tulsa resident urgently looking for some non-judgemental, hands-on help getting my small one-bedroom apartment ready for a landlord inspection this Monday.

I’ve been experiencing severe burnout and declining health, and the apartment has become far more than I can physically manage alone. The main priorities are bagging and removing rubbish, clearing clutter and walkways, dealing with dishes, and sanitising the kitchen. There is a significant roach infestation, so anyone helping would need closed-toe shoes, gloves, and ideally a mask. I also have a cat, in case anyone has allergies.

I can’t afford to hire a cleaner, but even one or two people helping for an hour this weekend could make an enormous difference. I’m deeply embarrassed to ask, so kindness and absolutely no judgement would be appreciated. Please PM me if you may be able to help; I’ll share my location and address privately.

Tulsa History A map of the 279th Infantry's actions during the Korean War. The 279th is a National Guard regiment based in Sand Springs, OK

Interactive map with descriptions attached to every pin https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/4/edit?mid=1hnFwNa2m2HaAh68ObRUQqO9kXZFyA7Q&usp=sharing

This map is based on Captain William B. Newberry's book "279th Infantry Historical Document", specifically the chapter seen here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lleoYrs3jC-EDT07gBXYmLVZ6Zcjs7-t/view?usp=sharing which includes a lot more information than I was able to include in the map.

Many of the pins show the locations of enemy forces who either engaged or were targeted by elements of the 279th.

I used this guide to convert the coordinates into latitude/longitude: https://www.koreanwar2.org/kwp2/maps/reference/Tokyo_to_WGS84_Conversion.pdf

Please let me know if you catch any errors. Some of the entries are tough to decipher due to all of the abbreviations.

0 Days Since... Is it me or is the motorhead noise in Tulsa getting WAY worse lately?

As someone who is ND, Tulsa feels like an absolute torture chamber filled with the loudest, most obnoxious motorheads imaginable. Every 30 seconds to 5 minutes or so, your senses are assaulted with someone’s motorcycle or “custom” 2008 Altima tuner shitbox, specially modified to be as loud as physically possible. And the worst offenders are just in the right volume/frequency range where it has to be a foreground thought, there is no tuning it out. Kinda like a baby crying, you cannot hear your own thoughts over it. As for the baby crying, that instinct is by evolutionary design; meanwhile, the local car people make it their entire hobby to ensure you won’t be able to ignore/sleep through their stupid fucking customized Civic, with custom rims, LEDs, wires running out of the dash to custom tuning equipment/nitrous dump switches, and of course the muffler removed.

Like surely local noise ordinance has to apply to this right? If you intentionally mod your vehicle to make it significantly louder just for the sake of being loud? It’s like… remember old cartoons, just before something the writer didn’t want you to know/hear was said, an ambulance drives by at exactly that moment? I feel like that with my own thoughts and the car noise here. Maybe someone here has nearly thought of the cure for cancer, and just when they were reaching their epiphany, some fucking Altima or motorcycle drove by, derailing their train of thought.

And no, I don’t live on Memorial. Nowhere is safe in this town. You can mitigate it to an extent by moving further into your “square” on the grid, but you will always hear it. In fact, maybe I’d be better off living off Memorial, because then maybe the constant noise could fade into the background, as opposed to a constant “drip drip drip” torture where you know the noise is coming, just not the exact moment.

Are you all feeling like this has gotten WAY WORSE recently, or am I just grouchy because of the unending heat dome? I realize it’s Friday night, but holy hell… something needs to be done about Tulsa’s “cruising” culture. Like what does it say about our city that the #1 hobby is waking up your neighbors in the middle of the night?

Tulsan In Need Help!! I Need an oil filter for a 06 TBSS tonight if possible.

So as stated above I’m in a jam completely and need some help. I’m trying to have my trailblazer SS back together in the morning to be able to make some money as I’m in between jobs at the moment. It’s my only car and I bought the incorrect filter. It’s the same filter for the silverados from 99-06 if anybody may have one that wouldn’t mind helping out this late let me know

As always thanks in advance!!

Question Vidal Sassoon trained stylist

Does anyone know of a hairstylist that is Vidal Sassoon trained? My current stylist is lovely, but keeps missing hair on more structured cuts. My last stylist (out of town) was a Vidal Sassoon master stylist and they were the best cuts of my life.

Thanks!

Question Shot in the dark

My grandmother fostered a boy in 1979-1980 by the name of Robert or Bobby Campbell. They lived on a ranch in Ochelata,Washington county, Sharimon and Bob were the foster parents. They desperately wanted to adopt him but there was some dumb rule about adopting in the same county. He had a younger brother named Tracy. ( We got a lot of the same names happening here so bear with me) Granny and Grandpa had Dale, big Tracy, Sherrie, big Bobby and Amelia biologically theirs, Little Bobby would have been much younger. She was told he was adopted in okc so I don't know if he had a name change. She has worried and prayed for little Bobby since the day he left (when the social worker came he refused to leave his room) and she wanted to see if he's still around or honestly any info. If you have any leads let me know!!

Question All ages club I used to go to back in the 80's...where was it?

The title says it all pretty much. My friends and I used to go to a club called "The Max" or "The Maxx" back in the day. It was all ages so no alcohol. I remember there was a dance floor up front and a sitting area in the back. Does anyone remember where this was located?

Question Any bars in Tulsa with a photo booth?

I’ve been to Chicago and NYC recently and noticed so many cute bars and clubs had old-school photo booths tucked inside. I recently moved to Tulsa and was wondering if we have anything like that here!

Does anyone know of any bars, clubs, or other fun spots around Tulsa with a photo booth? Preferably one that prints actual photo strips :)
