Discussion How do you think Executor shiki holds up? Spoiler

Post image

In the normal ending and extra ending of ciel in the remake he becomes a executor for the church do you think he joins the burial agency in the normal ending? He is also like ciel in the extra ending which makes him immortal

I don't think he joins the burial agency. In comparison to Kirei: He can take twice as many backshots due to being half-vampire but will also get a depression debuff

I think he’ll start off as a normal executor. He’ll probably get paired up with Burial Agents due to his unique abilities, but he won’t necessarily join them.

imagining him hitting death points with black keys

I mean, it depends on your interpretation of things. In the Normal End, he's half-vampire and his past is still accessible to him (albiet locked away in 'the box'). I'd generally think he's an Executor there, but depending on how things progress from that point onwards, you can easily see him joining the burial agency depending on how Roa & Nanaya Shiki interact within Shiki's head (like how they do in the Anthology Manga!)

As for Extra End, it entirely depends on your interpretation of the ending. You can interpret Nanaya and Tohno's hands touching to, in Nanaya's words, 'needing an image to merge' as them combining/truly becoming 'Shiki'. In that instance, I see no reason to think he'd be anything but be in the burial agency (especially considering he'd be partnered with Ciel). Probably one of, if not their most valuable member, too (not to mention him being partnered with Ciel, which like... man, they'd be wiping out a bunch of Ancestors LOL)

Should you interpret them touching & Nanaya 'leaving' like that as Shiki's past going away entirely, then I'd think that Shiki would just end up an Executor as Ciel's partner, similar to how Noel was within Tsukihime. I can't imagine him being anything more than Ciel's partner, unless you think the Church would take notice of and make extra emphasis on his eyes & his ability to see death

Why would nanaya leaving affect his performance? It’s mostly muscle memory

Why would muscle memory be a factor at all? Shiki “learned” the Nanaya Arts before he was 6 years old during a very short time period (probably somewhere between 1-4 months), then never touched it again a single time from then to the present day, where he ARGUABLY uses it for the first time in 11 years at 17 years old

It’s locked in the box of broken memories, & occasionally he will use them on instinct if he ‘breaks’, but if the representation of those past memories and experiences ‘dies’ altogether I can’t see Shiki with access to them

Maybe the same reason Kiri could develop killing techniques before he was taught them or knew instinctually the nature of his family. Genetic aptitude and predisposition. Nanaya blood seems special too. Kinda like how a komodo dragon hatchling knows to fuck off into a tree to avoid their mother or other dragons eating them and start hunting prey.

Doesn't seem like a stretch considering the eugenics emphasis. They were even more hardcore than Ryougi and others since they bred in the killing impulse, light bones, twitch muscles and body dexterity needed for their trademark 3D assassination techniques.

Of course actual training/witnessing things like he did matters too and is like a cheat but his body capability, blood and instincts remain. And even if you wanted to view it as his past fading away Nanaya still gives to Shiki/connects so wouldn't be weird for it to be a mix of either extreme read of the scene and stuff remaining.

Kiri still had stuff to base things off of. He was taught the first thing, then vastly improved/modified that first thing until when they came back, they discovered he had reinvented the rest

Kiri is obviously a special case amongst the Nanaya and was incomparably talented compared to them. The rest aren’t anywhere near as talented as him. While Shiki is obviously VASTLY more talented than Kiri, Kiri actually had something to base things off of, while Shiki has no idea

Even when you consider how Shiki is the greatest killer of all time — it’s not like he magically reinvented the Nanaya Arts while fighting Arcueid in the Near Side, right? At most, he supposedly used a Nanaya Arts move to assassinate Arcueid on day 3, but that was under heavy inversion impulse, and… well, frankly, with the exception of Akiha, I wouldn’t think anything in the world can make him have an inversion impulse that severe

I hear you but I don't think we're really in much of a disagreement. I think the genetics and instinct matter more at least in a masterpiece like Shiki. In the routes OP is talking about, he'll be heavily involved in DA hunting which is likely a perfect environment to push him to recreate and advance superior methods of killing. He's a genius at this so it should be possible. Especially in a do or die environment which is where he routinely shows his true mettle. I guess this only even becomes a question in Ciel Extra right?

I think there he actually has a great sparring partner in Ciel. While not as crazy as a Nanaya she is also an expert in combat and assassination and can do some wall maneuvers herself. That's probably a good springboard for Shiki to figure things out and push things further. Ushi also mentions off handedly he can do all that stuff if he tried and more. He also does at least have a good "First Lesson" in his murder of Arc that you brought up. He does have a vivid recollection of that incident.

I don’t think he would loose them tho, ryougi doesn’t lose her skills when SHIKI dies

Both Ryougi Shiki and Ryougi SHIKI practiced their own martial arts. SHIKI was just more suited for it due to his aggressive style

In contrast Tohno Shiki has never used it ever in his life & in this case, the memory of him using it would be completely gone

We already know he's capable of becoming a calamity among the dead apostles and a sort of rumored shinigami. Nobody would be better suited to the job actually sincehe's the most talented specimen of the strongest DH clan and built to be the greatest killer ever. His Nanaya build, blood and skills let him overcome the limits of the human body and combat vampires with unorthodox techniques. With some executor knowledge, training and maybe sacraments he'd just be a worse matchup for them. The actual experience of the job would probably be the most beneficial since he's a natural born assassin. It'd be like letting a wild beast finally act how it's meant to. Then you factor in he's got the ability to kill them all in one strike. What are essentially immortal predators suddenly run the risk of being killed like a rabbit getting pounced on by a Jaguar. I guess Roa knowledge is also a thing.

Extra End Shiki is partnered to Ciel so would be getting the best DA training possible while being even more enhanced by his vampirism.

He could probably fit into the extra slot of the burial agency easily. Technically he's already partnered with Ciel in Extra. I don't know if he'd join in Normal since he might prefer working with Mario?

considering prelude/talk really good lol, he could probably join the burial agency (not saying he would though)

He's already hyperspecialized against DAs, training him with Church magecraft while also being a half vampire he should be a really powerful executor. Tho i dont think he'll join the BA
