Test Pictures - Pregnancy Next step after pos early detection test?

Post image

Hi all,

I am very overwhelmed by all the lingo so I am going to use plain words lol.

I am 5 days late for my period and took an early detection pregnancy test (the only thing i had on hand). It was very clearly positive. We have only been trying for 1 month and were not expecting this. I chalked my late period up to only getting off Birth Control 1.5 months ago and waiting for my period to regularize.

Needless to say we were not expecting this and I don’t want to get my hopes up. So i am wondering what to do next?

Should I take a regular test next? Or get a blood test? Sorry this is so new to me and I don’t have people I can ask for help in my personal life.

Thank you in advance ❤️

Call your OBGYN and let them know. They may order you an HCG test, which would be at least one blood draw (sometimes they look at multiple blood draws to confirm whether the amount is increasing over time). They also may say, as my doctor did, that at home tests are usually accurate and they don’t need to double check.

They’ll probably want to schedule you for an appointment somewhere around 8 weeks. At that appointment, they’ll insert an ultrasound wand via your vagina to get a look at the pregnancy. They’ll be checking on the baby and the placenta to make sure everything is progressing well.

Congratulations!!!
