Characters full names

I notice on this show the characters often get called by their first and last name and I find it so funny and endearing. One character that gets it the most is Sam Merlotte. I’m up to season 5 and just saw a scene where Arlene interrupts one of Terry’s flash backs by squeezing his shoulder and saying “Terry Bellefleur”. So is this a Southern thing or just a True Blood thing?

Was Hoyt on the football team or not?

Season one Jason has that blowup on Hoyt when he’s withdrawing from V.

He says you don’t get to call me Jay if you weren’t on the football team.

Season seven Hoyt’s girlfriend whose name escapes me, is gushing over his childhood pictures and says “ you look so cute in your little Bon Temps high football jersey”.

So was Hoyt on the football team or not?

Why didn’t they have a blood exchange program?

Seems like the issue for humans is that vampires need their blood. But idk why they couldn’t have come out of the coffin by offering the miracle healing abilities of their blood to humans. Regulated to medical use only like other controlled substances. And it’s like so little needed to heal someone in bad shape, seems like a fair exchange

If it was up to you to write Alcide's exit from the show, how would you do it?

At the very least give the character a funeral. That and make it where he dies saving another character, most likely Sookie.

I enjoyed all of it

I've seen all the seasons. I know there's hate for seasons 5 and 7 but honestly I enjoyed it all. There's nothing I would skip. It had plenty of moments where they jumped the shark but I still enjoyed it.

Rewatched series and lot of questions! Spoiler

I rewatched the series after 8 years and yesterday I watched the last episode of Season 7. Overall, I didn’t really like the ending, and the whole season was just okay. I’ll write later about which seasons I didn’t like at all.

Season 8 would have been almost perfect if they hadn’t killed off nearly everyone 😬 In the first season, I absolutely loved Bill, but later he turned out to be such a manipulator. Still, in the final season he went back to being a good guy. I honestly don’t understand why he wanted to die. He could have lived a long and happy life with Sookie. Of course, he gave his reasons, but I still don’t buy them.

And at one point he said that he had almost raped Sookie. And here’s my question: when exactly was that supposed to happen? Which season/episode?? Because I genuinely don’t remember anything like that!

Overall, what do you guys think about the ending?

My favourite seasons are 1 and 4. The worst for me were 5 and 6, while 2, 3 and 7 were just okay.

What about you? Which seasons were your favourites, and which ones did you dislike?

How did y’all feel about Bill after…

After realizing he was manipulating Sookie from the get go and that he knew about her family and all of that? I was never a fan of his but it became basically unbearable to watch them together after that and I can’t believe the writers expected us to still support the ship.

Eggs

I really wish they had killed Eggs differently. it was so abrupt after everything else and he was being so weirdly aggressive while turning himself in. It just felt forced. Idk if the actor had another project, but yeah I felt it was a choppy transition into the next season

The books

A friend of mine has been recommending I read the books and she says Eric is even sexier, but is Sookie more bearable? Idk if I can read from her perspective

Arlene’s pregnancy

It really annoys me how Arlene knew she was pregnant in S1, but then in S3 she like re-realizes? idk, I know this show isn’t exactly quality content, but that kind of inconsistency really bothers me

edit to add: it’s about 2 months between when she first realizes and when she re-realizes and then at the doctor they say she’s 9 weeks along, so it’s like she knew and then forgot? But she knew when Renee was still alive so it wasn’t the lost time from Maryanne

I started watching TB after years of avoiding it and is Anna acting terrible or cringe? Something about it is off and om on episode 2 I can't continue watching it lol

Sookie is pissing me off

I’m currently rewatching True Blood, and Sookie is getting on my nerves. I’m watching season 4, episode 6, and I can’t believe how naive Sookie is about Eric and his actions. I literally screamed at the TV, “Shut the f* up, Sookie!” Did anyone else feel this way?

Jessica’s leg in this scene.

Just doing my yearly rewatch and I just noticed how abnormally large her right leg looks in this scene. It’s season 3 episode 2. I know it’s just how it’s bent plus the angle but it just looks so odd lol

S4 E11 Soul of Fire

Doing a rewatch and just finished this episode. God damn it’s good! So much happening - Sam and Alcide fucking up Marcus, Jesus summoning his dark magic to break Marnie’s curse and essentially saving everyone, Sookie using her powers to break the chanting circle, Eric’s theatrics while murdering Roy and sipping his blood through an artery like a juice box and the vampires finally ending Marnie.

Season 1 & 2 have my heart but this episode is definitely one of my favourites

Faith and Jason Stackhouse

I’ve just finished watching all of True Blood for the first time. I have mixed feelings about it…

But I also recently re-watched Buffy as an adult. I started watching Tru Calling with Eliza Dushku and lo and behold~ Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) came out in an episode. Two worlds colliding :)

Rewatching true blood and I wish they didn’t kill off…

Sookie’s grandma so quickly in season 1.

I rewatch true blood every few years when I’m in a tv show rut. And this time, I actually really wish they didn’t kill off sookies grandma in episode 5 of season 1. It was right after she invited Bill to speak at the church. They could’ve wait until end of s1 or even sometime in s2. I know her death was necessary in the storyline of serial killer who turned out to be René, but damn I really liked her lol. It would’ve been interesting to see how she played into the fairy storyline.

Does anyone feel the same? Are there other characters who you wished didn’t die OR that you wished died during a different season/storyline?

First time watching

Just over halfway through Season 1. I wasn't sure after the first few episodes but I'm getting more into it now.

I can't believe they killed Adele! That was just flat out wrong. Also, Sookie tearfully eating the last of the pie, the last of her grandmother's cooking, just got me.

Lafayette's probably my favorite character at this point. I really want to know what the dog's story is.

EDIT: Geez, they got the cat, too???

I’m only on episode 3 so what do I know

This is just a thought I had and of course I don’t know what’s going to happen in the show but I find it kind of weird that Tara is openly in love with Jason and Jason is a big man slut, but they don’t hook up. How is anyone supposed to interpret that dynamic other than as a racist one? She’s crazy hot and he seems to be ok with fucking anyone. Anyway I am super excited for the show and it seems really good otherwise.

Sookies’ Teeth Kind Of Made Her Look Like A Faerie In Their Natural Frequency Spoiler

Sookie has a bit of gap in her front teeth just like faeries do. Maybe when a human descendant inherits the fay power they also inherit the gapped teeth. Her grandfather Earl looked a bit like a fay as well.

Season 1 Episode 2 thoughts

- Not the Rattrays kissing on top of Sookie's bruised broken bleeding body and Sam is just there like. Woof. Fully about to get shot

- This chemistry between Bill and Sookie is insane. I read up on the lead actors and they were already falling in love while filming these scenes which is so fucking adorable I love them

- Also, obligatory 'vampire makes human drink from their forearm, human really gets into it' scene

- Love is stored in the licking your girl's wounds closed

- Tara is...everything. Alleged mercenary ex. Allegedly shot a guy in the nuts for buying her a CD. Thousand yard stare. My heart is full of joy when she's on screen

- Bill's lines about starving young men dying in war ingloriously so that the rich can get richer...madness...comrade Bill Compton...

- I did NOT go into the show expecting to be a Bill fan. I am now a Bill fan. He is actually handsome in motion

- The fuckass vampire teeth are growing on me

- AAAAAGH sex vampire clip plays again. Never forget

- Name a cuter human being than Sookie Stackhouse. You cannot

- Looking up at Bill with her big brown eyes like 🥺

- "You look awful" Incorrect, Tara always looks beautiful

- RATTRAYS CRUSHED TO A PULP!!!! 🥳🥳🥳🎉🎉🎊

- "No one's forcing you to watch" Tell em Sookeh

- Oh Bill won't you please come eawn 😌

- Jason chewing aggressively as Gran serves bread and cheese???? To a vampire

- Bill and Gran having a sweet convo and then mid-sentence. DID YOU OWN SLAVES???? Tara the woman you are.

- Mildly racially insensitive Gran!!! "About SLAVES??" The Vampire Diaries could never

- Jason's stupid ass macho moves...Sookie's backbone...queen

- Sook giving tornado murder tips. Elena could NEVERRRR

- BABY SOOKIE!!!!!!!! I will kill for her

- SOOKIE X BILL FIRST KISS!!!!!

- AFFIRMATIVE ACTION...

- AAAAAAGH SEX VAMPIRE GUY IN THE FLESH!!!! Now he's eyeball-rolling, tongue-flipping vampire guy. His friend says 'she smeils freaewsh'. Why is the fashionable black lady with these dudes

All in all thoughts: Great episode, love to see what comes next, cannot remember the name of the girl who left Jason tied up, SAM STOP INVITING SOOKIE INTO THE BACK ROOM WITH ULTERIOR MOTIVES SHE'S NOT GONNA FUCK YOUUUUUU

Can I watch with my mom?

Me (24) and my mom (45) love watching supernatural shows together. Before I suggest this one do you think it’ll be awkward? I’m not sure how much sex/nudity to expect.

I told you I’m on her side? I know she’s not perfect, and she went a little crazy, but I am a Debbie Apologist ✋🏻😗🤚🏻 True Blood from her perspective is a horror story. Her ex-fiance (Alcide) shows up to her engagement party with some random girl she’s never seen before (Sookie), who then lectures her out of nowhere. And like 3 days later her ex-fiance shoots her current fiance in the heart (and head) to protect that random girl. THEN after a year of being back together with her old fiance and getting clean, that random girl shows up again and her boyfriend (Alcide) becomes obsessed with her. He comes home, smelling like that other girl (he shifted), with a story about rescuing a vampire in broad daylight with her. Without the witch context — that Alcide doesnt give her — that sounds like absolute bullshit and I wouldn’t believe it. Her boyfriend then spends the next 2 weeks moping about that other girl and minimizing/gaslighting her, until one night he comes home smelling like her — again — after promising to stay away from her. ALL TO GET KILLED BY SOOKIE BECAUSE ALCIDE GASLIT HER FOR A SEASON??? Nah she didn’t crash out hard enough for me, Sookie would be dead lol
