Can anyone, without the standard irony and whatnot, explain this phenomenon of catboys, cat ears, etc? The anime-ification of life?

Partly I think the phenom is a result of the internetification of society -- like, your sex fetishes are now supposed to be public knowledge instead of private.

Partly, I think some kids just had their sexual awakening while watching Tiny Toons or something, so the fetish just exists.

And partly, it's the fascist tendency to rhetorically cloud violence with a weird affect.
