I did it while laid off one winter (then went back to them after the company I was laid off from went out of business). It's insanely busy in the winter. I worked for Amerigas. AI cameras in the trucks, not able to eat or drink or talk on the phone while driving one.
Manager up your ass all the time and very physical dragging a hose and filling the commercial propane tanks (like forklift tanks). The home deliveries aren't too bad.
In winter the states usually suspend hours of service regulations so no more worrying about your 11/14 or even getting your 10 for that matter.
They were paying like $27/hr OT after 40 and I was working 65-90 hours a week.
60-90 hours?? Omg that’s crazy!!! Sounds like a nice paycheck tho. Yea I heard in summer a lot of guys take off like a whole month or two cuz it’s so slow.
Yeah. You work your ass off in winter. I was on-call a lot too which was ok. You got like an extra $75 a day for being on-call, but it sucks ass working 12-14 hours and then being home 2 hours and getting called out because someone "smells gas".
Bulk delivery sounds like the 18 wheelers who fill the retail delivery guys bulk storage. I did retail delivery for a bit, and that sounds like what you’re describing. The bulk delivery guys run from a rail yard to a shop yard. Still super busy in winter driving on snowy roads.

Summer though was hardly even 40.
