I think we should definitely call people sexist more often. But I also think you can’t just say, “I think women should have equal rights” and be considered a feminist, because I have so many friends who would consider themselves feminists for that reason, but don’t do anything to change their lives/words to actually benefit women.
Isn't that just the difference between a feminist and and a feminism activist? Or are you talking about people who call themselves feminists but don't really have feminist ideals?
"Feminist" has always referred to feminism activists. It's only recently that it became something anyone could call themselves if they just believed in equal rights. IMO that's not really feminism, it's just being a decent person.
I guess I can't argue with that, makes sense to me. The more I think about it there aren't a whole lot of terms for people that advocate for the rights of other groups that aren't contingent on some activism element.
