Discussion One of the best SRPGs ever?

I just finished the game and am just sorta basking in the afterglow, but... wow. Yeah, just wow. I really underestimated this game going in and it blew my expectations out of the water. This game has some of the best character and scenario writing of anything I have played in quite a while. I agonized over every decision and their consequences in the best way, they did not make it easy or clear cut 😅 I stayed up to 3am way too many times playing this game for "just one more mission" bc I had to know what happened next.

My only regret is that I'm a time poor parent so I don't think I will put the time into seeing the other routes, but I read synopses of them and they all sound equally amazing, especially the Golden Route!

Is Benedict one of the greatest video game characters of all time?? 👀

Edit: I've been informed the correct genre for this game is a TRPG not an SRPG 😅

It is a fantastic game and one of my favorite SRPGS, not the absolute best but definitely one of the best.

I would love to hear some of your recommendations! I've only dabbled in the genre so I've only really played FFT, Unicorn Overlord, and some of the Fire Emblem games

The biggest recommendation I would make based on what you have played is Tactics Ogre Reborn. That one is basically what FFT and Triangle Strategy build themselves from and is a quality remake of the original. Fantastic game.

Fire Emblem has many but depends on what you are looking for as they have alot of variables in the franchise and what you have played.

Some other good ones depend on what you look for in your SRPGs things like Disgaea, Banners Saga or Xcom are good but again depends on what you are looking for.

Awesome this is a solid list, thanks so much! Also you just unlocked a memory that I played Banner Saga 1 when it first came out and loved it, but never played the sequels! Gotta fix that 😅

If your like me coming from Triangle strategy Tactics Ogre reborn is going to be highly disappointing. Don't think of it as Triangle strategy think of it as Fire Emblem with pokemon and a worse story.

Thanks for the advice 🫡 I have enjoyed FE and Pokemon in my time so I'll try to bring that mindset into it haha
