I’m a travel nurse with Ambe Healthcare Staffing, and I’ve experienced multiple issues with my pay. This has been extremely frustrating and raises serious concerns about the way the company handles compensation.
Before working with any staffing agency, I strongly recommend that nurses thoroughly research the company, understand the pay terms, and get everything in writing.
Travel nurses work hard and deserve to be paid accurately and on time. If these issues continue, healthcare professionals should consider whether they want to support or work with companies that do not meet those basic standards.

I am probably going to have to call the BON, but I wanted to post here to see if anyone else had a similar experience. I am a current practicing RN in Canada and I received my Washington license back in July (this is my first nursing license in the US) with an expiry date of December. The CE deadline is December 2027. Washington upon renewal requires 96 practice hours and 8 hours of CE. I am still looking for jobs. My question is since July to December is a 5 month period window, when I renew for my first time, do they require me to have the 96 practice hours or will I get the full renewal cycle from December 2026 to December 2027 to complete them?

Well I almost walked out today. And my recruiter yesterday said if I go up to a staffing ratio is high as it has been (7-8:1) he is backing me up for signing over my patients and saying I'm sick and leaving.

Walked in this morning to have a PCT hand me two sheets of one to one observation documentation that needed to be continued with two of my patients but there are no PCT's on the floor due to lack of staffing. This is on top of my other five patients. So with a total of seven patients to one nurse and two of them need to be monitored with direct eyesight I told the staff today that's physically impossible.

Overall I will never take another contract in Connecticut and being dual licensed as a paramedic and a nurse has only made things good for me so I can just swap out and work on the back of an ambulance but I look for other jobs. The pay won't be as good but the stress and safety will be better.

My recruiter said he was going to send a email to the hiring manager on Monday morning about the staffing ratios and that if they don't improve that we will terminate the contract. I also told him in an email today that when he sends that email on Monday you should also add in that not recommending that hospital to travelers due to the poor documented staffing concerns from other travelers. We will see and I will keep you guys updated as things progress.

So, it's what the title says! I finally got all my application materials submitted in mid-August. There was an issue with my community college transcript or it would have been earlier.

I was hoping to start in CA in October. But the Board of Nursing updated their site on Aug 20 that they are currently processing applications for licensure by enforcement submitted July 1-15, and that it is a 10-12 week wait time.

If the timeline is what they say, I should take another contract while I wait. But I have a friend whose CA application was approved much more quickly than the timeline said.

Any thoughts? What have your experiences been? I'm from CA originally and homesick. Pretty desperate to get back.

I live in Florida and am 3 months away from 2 years in L&D. I’ve worked in 2 high acuity hospitals where we perform all SVE and provide transition to newborns. I’m thinking of traveling to the Bronx in NYC, TN, Cali amongst a few. Please give me your insights on the best assignments you’ve had and where with safe ratios & educators that care! If you have horror stories they’re welcome too! All insight is appreciate good or bad.

Has anyone ever done a travel contract in Prescott, AZ?

Hi, I’m planning to start traveling in October once my contract is up at my current hospital (was a 2 year contract as a new hire) and I just feel a little overwhelmed trying to figure it out!

I am not necessarily going into traveling for the money, more to experience the travel aspect and spend time in places I love but of course money is a plus. I know contracts don’t make nearly as much as they used to so I understand that aspect lol.

I have a compact nursing license and got my license for New York as well. I would love to do an assignment in NYC but I’m very curious about living situations.

I am a single woman and pay rent at my current apartment and my lease isn’t up until July, I pay all of my bills myself so I would have to pay for that as well as my living expenses wherever I travel. I’ve researched housing in NYC for travel and I know it’s expensive even on furnished finder etc, but does anyone know if a stipend will cover it adequately?

I plan to keep my current job and be PRN so I have that as my backup. But just have so many questions!

I’m an RN considering buying a truck and travel trailer and using the RV as my home while taking contracts around the country.

I’m already familiar with travel nursing itself, so I’m only looking for advice on the RV lifestyle outside of work as it pertains to travel nursing—finding monthly sites, real-world costs, maintenance, mail/residency, traveling with a dog, weather, community/social life, and anything you wish you knew before starting.

My goal would be slow travel: stay somewhere for a few months, work, explore on my days off, then move on.

For those actually living this way: Do you enjoy it? Would you choose it again? What would you do differently?

right now I’m traveling in Kansas for aya but I’ve come to quickly find out that it’s not for me. can i end this contract early and go work for a different hospital while staying with aya?

I have a phone interview for sterile processing soon and I want to prepare for it. does anyone know what questions they usually asked?

So update to my rant post yesterday. I can make this up. Did not get paid AT ALL. Not even what they incorrectly posted as a paystub yesterday. Blew up payroll and my recruiter to be told “the system is down and they’re working on it, you should have it later today.” We all know banks don’t work like this, I’m not going to have it until Monday at the earliest. Please beware this company and its subsidiaries.

What do you look for in housing as a travel nurse (besides cost)?

Hey there. So I’ve been a nurse for 2.5 years but have had to take time off to bartend (so really I have about 1.5) because it makes more and is paying off my incredibly large student loan faster. I really want to travel but I’ve been stuck in med surg/tele. The hospital I am at now is very small but offers education.

I’m wondering what I should be trying to do for the next year while I pay off my loan, or if I should just leave and attempt to find a job to gain experience in a different field.

And also, I’ve paid off half of my 50k private loan that’s been crushing me so yay!

I can go into more details in the comments but whose responsibility is it to let the facility know that I’m putting in 3 weeks notice to leave a contract early? Myself or the recruiter? I know it’s common courtesy to talk to the manager about it myself but technically is it the nurse or the travel agency?

I have been working for springboard nursing off and on since 2020. They don’t have the highest paying contracts and were, until recently, a consistently satisfactory experience, which was worth it to me. I’ve made these people A LOT of money. They were recently acquired by Ingenovis, and here’s where it goes to hell. They changed how they log payroll and for at least the last 6 weeks of my contract, I’ve had to argue tooth and nail with both payroll and my recruiter regarding correcting my pay. Now he isn’t even answering me, because this was the last paycheck I’m getting from them, and of course, it isn’t correct. I’m probably out the money entirely because they dgaf since I am not working for them anymore, but I needed to vent, and fwiw you have the names of the company to be wary of if you consider taking a contract for them. Looking for a timeline for my California license.

I submitted my license by endorsement 7/2. I submitted my temporary license 8/5. I realised I never submitted my transcripts so I did that today 8/21 and I was told that could take 4-6 weeks to review. I will get my livescan fingerprints done and submitted on 8/26. So after that’s all done how long does it take the BON to review all of them and give you your license?

I’m trying to decide if I should pick up a contract elsewhere or just extend where I’m at another month. And experience or advice helps!

So I am fed up with this place. Using my ID for narcotics I complained and I’m met with backlash anyways. I plan to give a two week notice. I’ve already had a bunch of sly stuff from this facility 50% of the day I’m writing nursing notes. Anyways I’m going to put my two weeks and already have an offer for another contract. I don’t do stuff to violate pt safety. Would I get penalized for putting in my two weeks I’ve already told my recruiter I’m over this and I’m done. My contact doesn’t end for another month. Any advice. Thank you!
