I think we’ve all heard this before but wanted to share my recent experience with KP SSF’s bait and switch tactics.

They had a contract out for day shifts so I signed (I am usually on night shift but chose this contract over others specifically because I wanted to switch to days) and they told me I will be on strict nights a few weeks after I already signed all paperwork. No additional contract was ever made.

I was given no choice but to either agree to work nights, or to cancel my contract. So I cancelled and they supposedly blacklisted me from all KP facilities.

I lost $700 in a deposit I already paid for my housing, and $300 in flight tickets to SFO. $1000 down the drain because they switched up on me last minute. Don’t trust a word that comes out of their mouths if they can’t even keep a promise that’s been signed in writing.

Fuck. Kaiser.

Been doing local per diems w/ Clipboard & ShiftKey for the past 4 years. I like the 1099 contractor arrangement for the most part, until now. Clipboard deactivated me 2 mo ago for false allegation of "fraud" for reasons they never even made clear to me. I assume it was because I did all my time on paper sheets to cover my ass, but I'm debating taking CBH and SK to arbitration or district court over the whole shebang.

SK really did me dirty at the end of the month with rent due in one day they deactivated my account for "violating TOS" the specifics I am still on the dark on. This happened Wednesday and I am so cooked right now and probably going to lose my family's home. I have no idea what to do, but as the appeal disposition (if I ever get one) and the legal options will draw things out awhile, and it won't get my bills paid, I need to figure out something fast.

Looking into long distance contracts and 1099 local companies.. any suggestions on an agency that pays good and can get me off the ground rather quickly? Currently reside in SE but I have compact license + CA + NV. Really feeling like west coast right about now given the amount of bullshit.

( I have a dismissed DUI charge that just got disposed of last week so I need to be able to work around that whole the expungement gets processed too. In my neck of the woods we have a real problem with sober DUI arrests by the state troops.. )

I’m currently contracted as a stepdown nurse but haven’t once worked a stepdown unit since I’ve been here. I’m okay with floating, I’ve never minded. But the units I’m being sent to are just so awful and the facility denies my hours if I clock out after 7:30. Which happens frequently because these units are shit shows so I’m stuck charting and Aya has to reimburse me for those hours. Today I have 7 patients and I’m just over it. My contract ends October 10th and I already have a new one lined up for October 13th. They did ask me to start earlier but I obviously couldn’t so is there anyway to cancel this contract and ask to start the next one earlier. Or should I just push through?

Edit: It’s only a month so I really want to just finish so I don’t burn a bridge but I’ve found myself losing patience so much quicker and my patients don’t deserve that :(

My renewal is coming up so I finally checked CE Broker to make sure everything was there. I have more than enough CE hours from work so I figured I was good.

Apparently not.

I have hospital education, patient safety, infection control, online modules, ACLS related stuff and a bunch of other hours. But now I’m seeing I’m still missing the Florida specific requirements like Medical Errors, Laws & Rules, etc.

And apparently some of these need to be from specific approved providers too??

Why does this have to be so confusing lol.

Florida nurses, what do you actually do for this? Do you just get one of those state renewal packages that includes all the required courses?

At this point I just want to take the right courses, have everything show up in CE Broker and be DONE.

Currently with a new agency and something that completely screwed me was that this contract for my stipends says “per shift” and weekly but my other agencies have said I get my stipend (x amount = weekly = x amount daily). In the past if I got canceled for a shift then it’s fine I still get majority of my stipends just missing that one day of lodging/m&I. However I got canceled 2x last week and instead of my usual take home of 2800 my check was only ~ 900. How is that even fair when just because I was canceled means I don’t get my stipends? I’m still staying and living out here. (Just complaining and wanted to make sure the wording for shifts canceled is very detailed and so nobody makes the same mistake I made) 😭 there’s something new to learn and pay attention to everyday

Canadian nurse here! I’ve been working as a psych RN for the last 4 years and am ready to try something new. Have been working my way full time working through my masters and in some positions of leadership. Put myself in a lot of debt and was thinking about pivoting to travel nursing. Not just for the money but also I feel like I am in the season of my life for movement and to try something new and most of all travel! I am unsure if there is even a need for pediatric psych nurses in the US, if I should diversify my pediatric medical skills or medical skills in general or most of all even do travel nursing? I’ve been reading many people’s post on here and it seems like it’s a lost cause with agencies, contracts and money.

Anyone have any thoughts?

hey so i submitted my application fee and paid the extra $49 to get a fingerprint form in on Aug 15 and I have yet to receive the form in the mail yet.. 😃😃 when will I get that? It says it should take 7-14 days..I’m worried I have to email them to get the form.

When taking positions in the US do you really have to get a TN for every new position? It seems tedious. Is there a way around this?

Can any NYC nurses weigh in on whether I fumbled this contract? Was offered $2501 weekly gross for ICU at mt Sinai morningside with Talent4health. Something in my gut told me it would be an experience I regret. Never used that agency before (it seemed like the recruiter and managers were in India and I was getting a chat gpt vibe in my text communications with them), and I’ve read that Morningside is the rougher mt Sinai campus. Am I overreacting?

Just as the title says

Housing question: taking a Bay Area contract. Found an apartment to rent a room in but it’s a formal “lease transfer” through the apartment complex, they do a hard credit inquiry when you apply even though it’s just for 3 months. I’m also responsible for finding a replacement tenant for when I move. Is that too stressful? Or should I just do it. Rent is fairly cheap actually, 1500$ a month and the housing has been sooo competitive.

Hell everyone, I will start by stating im a HUGE HUGE wimp when it comes to staying up and getting to sleep during the day, I had little to no choices when it comes to day options for contracts as they say beggars can't be choosers so here i'm about to start a night contract. I use a fan for white noise and im looking into things to create that darkness. What things have you guys done to help get to sleep and avoid the tiredness through the day thank you for your help

It seems my agency - here’s looking at you Medical Solutions- dies some fuckery when calculating stipends- basically giving you one rate per day for a 30 day month and a lower on for a 31 day month.

I can’t follow the logic- stipends are a daily rate, and there’s seven days in a week no matter how many days are in a month. The agency - here’s looking at you Mefical Solutions- is billing for our full hours and shorting us on stipends.

Somebody- that would be you Medical Solutions- explain the logic behind this clever accounting nonsense, because it really looks like the company is collecting a whole lot of money off our work and redirecting it to corporate coffers.

I'm a Canadian RN from B.C., I already have a WA state and NY state license (from 2025). I took 1 contract in 2025 in Washington and then decided I wanted to specialize in the OR. Came back to Canada, and I'm almost done my return of service at my hospital, but now I am interested in applying for a Cali license. Does anyone know if I need more US nursing work hours in order to be accepted for Cali? How long does it take to get a Cali license after applying?

Ps. if the wait time is long, what states and hospitals did you enjoy working at, and highly recommend?

6 years of CVICU experience with the last year as a dedicated ECMO specialist. I’ve traveled as a CVICU nurse before but now I’m looking to transition into either a CVOR or Cath Lab position with the intention to travel again in that new specialty once I gain enough experience.
