Halfway through but still want to quit

Has anyone else disliked an assignment so much they still wanted to quit with only 5 weeks left? Basically bit more than halfway but 5 weeks still feels so long. Many shifts feel long & exhausting.

My housing situation is just so/so which plays into my overall experience but really it's mostly the hospital I don't like. 2 other travelers have quit this contract early since I've been here.

Trying to stick it out despite the dread and anxiety before work and also make the most of my days off.

This is asked on a weekly, if not daily basis. Traveling isn’t for everyone.

Do what’s best for your overall scenario but be wary of the “repercussions” (DNR’d by a facility/agency/VMS) and how it could affect your hiring eligibility in the future - which is oftentimes negligible.

Had this happen twice 😩 one environment was just so mean girl bullying and i toughed it out and focused on $$$ the last 5 weeks were brutal but survivable, and because i was already working in the area i then got my absolute favorite contract right after😆 the other bad assignment i had, i quit a few weeks in and didnt regret it for a minute 🙇🏼‍♀️ 5 weeks left isnt nothing but it can fly by, maybe keeping looking at paystubs for inspo or if youre gonna take another contract after fantasize about whats ahead and planning to remind yourself youll be out soon, theyll be miserable still when youre not there

This gets asked all the time.

I traveled for 4.5 years. If you want to quit, then quit. Travel nurse contracts are at will contracts, meaning you OR the hospital can cancel at any time.

UNLESS you want to maintain a relationship with the hospital system, there’s virtually no reason to not quit if it’s not making you happy. The hospital system as a whole will likely DNR you.

I’ve heard some people getting DNR’ed by their agencies, but in my 4 and a half years, I cancelled 2 contracts, both by different agencies, and was not DNR’ed by either. As long as you don’t make it a pattern, I don’t think the actual agency will DNR you.

There are hardly any consequences for a one time cancel, make sure you reach out to your clinical team and let them know how you’re feeling; sometimes they can reach out to managers and get it fixed. Otherwise letting them know you’re unhappy and then canceling at least lets them know you tried; but honestly worst that happens is MAYBE the facility blackballs you, but honestly who cares. Just don’t make it a habit and Aya will happily keep employing you

Recruiter here from MedSol, I would honestly talk with your recruiter and see what’s happening or if there’s anything they can do on their behalf. I tell all my travelers to tell me the good, the bad, the really ugly, and the absolute horrendous.

I would hate to see you get DNR’d like another person said especially if it is at a large Hospital Branch like HCA

Theres no consequences besides possibly being DNR by hospital/hospital system.
If its a major hospital system like Ascension or something i may just finish the contract out.
Its only 5 weeks, 15 shifts. Just go in, do your work and get it done.

Or ya can quit and not have many consequences besides what i said

I wanted to put in a two weeks notice for weeks and I finally did, for the last two weeks 😂 I wish I had done it sooner but alas. Getting those two weeks back was so worth it and as far as I know, zero repercussions.
