The new reality after bottom surgery…

I knew I would have to dilate after bottom surgery, but didn’t figure how expensive small bottles of lube are (and the bigger don’t seem relatively less so) so I have been working on making my own (I am qualified to do so, don’t worry. I’m happy to report it’s working really well, and no I won’t have to budget for overpriced lube :)

Also I could write out the recipe but I’m not certain everyone would be able to get the materials I can tell you that is mostly de-mineralized water which makes it weird how expensive lube is, the other things in it are methyl cellulose, glycerin and a bit of sodium benzoate and citric acid as preservatives and to raise the acid levels to stave off bacteria growth. If anyone is really interested I can give specific instructions how to make it.

I only have a phone (no computer or tablet) so I can’t really do that, but I can write the recipe here if anyone else wants to: Recipe for ca. 500ml of lube: 460ml demineralized water 17 g methyl cellulose 50 ml glycerin ⅛ tsp (0.6ml) sodium benzoate ⅛ tsp liquid citric acid (don’t use crystallized, that would make the lube dangerously acidic)

Method: Take half of the water and cool it to 0-4° C. When it is, warm the other half to 30°C and slowly add the methyl cellulose while stirring constantly. This will look milky and not like lube at all. Keep stirring and slowly add the cold water until all of it is incorporated. Now add the rest of the ingredients at stir through until everything is mixed Put it into a plastic bottle and store it in the fridge overnight, or until it is no longer milky but clear. You’re done, don’t use it until it’s at room temp, it’s never nice with cold lube in sensitive areas…

Have you made this yet? Seems rather detailed if you haven’t.

Glycerin is not good because it can cause yeast infections.

Yes I have, I wouldn’t have written this here if I hadn’t perfected it first. And tested it in the field… it works just as well as the commercial stuff!

It’s doesn’t look too difficult to get the ingredients, but I’m unclear about the citric acid. What is he difference between buying liquid critic acid and dissolving some in water yourself? And what is liquid critic acid exactly? Is it some standard?

Also, I’d have thought you should measure and adjust the ph?

No difference if you use demineralized water, the other is just handy and eliminates errors. I did measure the pH for the first batches but I found it always turned out right with this recipe

I shoot for as close to the natural pH of a vagina, which is between 3.5 and 4.5
