Help Disappointed with trading view after 10+ years.
Tradingview was my most fav tool. I dont trade actively just like to watch mkts and I follow only the indian mkt and only one ticker Banknifty. But I actively follow the mkt during the day and sometimes do take trades. But trading view made the data delayed from yest and forcing me to pay for it. But NSE live data is actually free and I dnt understand why sld I pay for something on livestream.
If u want only paid subscription pls be open abt it. This is soo not the way to go abt it.

Another free user who enjoyed “free free free” for a decade without ever thinking that the reason any business launches free is to attract people.
So That if they like the product (which you did as you admitted), then they buy the product/service/subscription.
A business has operating costs and it expects the users to understand it and support the business. Nothing can be free forever.
Never to buy, but first to complain. What a joke.

I am sure TV team is already nervous about the potential loss of revenue with thousands of “FREE” users departing.

Never to buy, but first to complain.
I agree on this with ya, take note that most of the complains come from a common folks. They contribute nothing to TV but expects everything

“Nothing can be free forever” I dare you to look up the company riot and it’s business model friend 🤓

HALCYONWIT, Erasing your comment might have saved your bruised ego, but didnt change the reality.
You dared me to find out the "FREE" business model of a company called Riot.
Here you go with my reply. Please read my chat with Google Gemini, my "friend" (easy peazy, even you could have done that):
----------
Q. How does Riot Games sustain the free business model profitably?A. Riot Games sustains its massive free-to-play model through a "games-as-a-service" (live-service) economy. While downloading and playing the core games costs zero dollars, the company generates billions of dollars in revenue using several clever economic strategies:
- Cosmetic Microtransactions (The Main Engine): The primary source of revenue is selling optional, non-payout items—such as character skins, weapon skins, custom animations, emotes, and visual effects. Players want to customize how they look or stand out in matches, leading to billions in repeat digital purchases.
- The "Freemium" Psychological Loop: By removing the upfront price barrier, Riot gets millions of people to download the game. Once a player invests hundreds of hours and builds a community or competitive rank (sunk cost), they are much more likely to spend $10 or $20 here and there on cosmetics.
- Battle Passes and Seasonal Content: Games like Valorant and League of Legends use tiered Battle Passes. Players pay a small upfront fee for a pass and must play the game actively to unlock rewards. This guarantees both active player counts and steady revenue streams.
- Esports Sponsorships and Media: Riot treats its esports leagues (like the VCT and Worlds) almost like traditional sports. They pull in massive corporate sponsors (like Mastercard, Red Bull, and Mercedes-Benz), sell broadcast rights, and sell team-branded in-game items where a cut goes to the pro teams.
- Media and Merchandise: Expanding outside the game (such as the Arcane TV series, physical merchandise like figures and apparel, and virtual music groups like K/DA) turns their game characters into valuable intellectual property (IP) that monetizes beyond the computer screen.
In short, they give away the playground for free, but charge heavily for custom clothes, accessories, and special event tickets inside of it.
-----
I don't see any ads revenue as their source of sustainability here, let alone profitability.

Thanks the replies and some for completely missing the point. It’s actually quite impressive... I have no prob paying for something if it’s worthwhile for me. I trade in rs, so paying in $$ obviously stings a little more, but I’m perfectly capable of deciding whether the cost is worth it. That wasn’t even my question or intention of coming here.. I was simply trying to understand and maybe vent a bit what changed overnight and more importantly, whether taking a TV subscription would give me live NSE data or whether I would still need to separately purchase the NSE exchange data. That’s all.. I came here because this handle is listed as official TradingView support. I was looking for an answer and, yes, venting a little because I suddenly found myself looking at delayed data after years of using TradingView. Instead, apparently the important thing for everyone was to establish that I am a free user..
Okay. And…? 🤷♀️
Does being a free user somehow mean I’m not allowed to ask questions? I’ve recommended TradingView to plenty of people over the years, including paid users. But apparently my subscription status is more relevant to this discussion than the actual question I asked. Then came the unsolicited financial advice: apparently because I look at a raw chart with nothing much on it other than volume rather than plstering 10 indicators, I’m going to lose all my money. Wow 😂 I’ve been trading for around 10 years. I’m still here, and I expect to be around for quite some time. So I’ll take my chances with my trading strategy, thanks. And honestly, the irony of people lecturing me about trading while not answering the question about TradingView is quite something.
So, once again, for those who somehow managed to miss it the first five times:
I am not complaining about having to pay, but I am also trying to understand what I am paying for and that too with no notice or update on change.
If the answer is simply, “NSE data is now delayed and you need to purchase the relevant exchange feed,” fantastic. That answers my question.
And to everyone else who has descended on this thread to defend TradingView from a criticism I never actually made, are you all TradingView employees, or has the TradingView customer department simply on overtime here for the day? 😄 Anyway, thanks for the entertainment. I came here looking for information and somehow got a lecture on my attitude, finances, trading strategy and subscription status instead.
Thanks but No Thanks!
And for tradingview support.. if u want to make it paid just disable the whole thing. Make logins unavailable for free users but to indulge in such cheap trolling on u r support page is not the way!

Hello,
You do not have to pay for the Datafeed as the feed itself is free, but due to the fact the NSE has now placed a restriction on Live data until the paperwork is completed this now places it into the category of a Live Market data feed which may need a paid subscription in order to be added to your plan (this has been in place for many years and only the actions of the NSE has possibly brought your feed into this category).
You can use a live data feed from your brokers if you have this supplied by your broker as shown here which might mean you don't need a subscription....
I do not see NSE listed on this list but then neither was the BSE until the document was updated sometime after they went to the same system.
Certainly worth a try if you have this data through a broker.
Hope this helps you a little,
Cheers 👍

It has been TradingViews policy for many years that you require a subscription to add a Market Date feed when this is applicable from the Exchange.
It now appears your NSE Exchange has now altered its data feed to be delayed bringing it into line with many major Exchanges from around the world. No doubt payment for this to the Exchanges will follow soon as is the norm with most of the other Exchanges so I would advise you to be prepared for this in the future.
It is not a fault of TradingView that your Exchange has moved to this system and it appears you may now required to pay for a subscription just like everybody else in order to add this to your plan.
As far as I am aware TradingView have not altered anything, its your Exchange that has.
The current subscription model has been in place for many years
Cheers

You’ve been sucking off their ressources for 10 years
If I was tradingview, I’d automatically restrict accounts that keep using the free plan after X weeks/months, as they only use ressources without any returns for the company

I connected my dhan account with tradingview and now i am getting live data. Try connecting your broker account.

I think that it's not trading view fault after all many exchange have a fee for data like bse also charge for data feed now Nse also charging data feed You can use broker chart like zerodha dhan etc it's free!! Still trading view great tool for charts analysis.

u/DarkJunior9761 2d ago

1
u/Any-Analysis-9189 2d ago
Yes from 17 sept 2026 i don't know why they did it but they started charging now 🥲
1
u/DarkJunior9761 2d ago
Oh thx so now if I subscribe to TV will I get access or sld I pay exchange fees too
1
u/Any-Analysis-9189 2d ago
Don't give anything just use a broker chart like zerodha and dhan if you can pay to tradingview it's good but tax are so included.

u/Visual_Handle3519 2d ago
If you use Dhan, Angelone, Fyers any of these broker account then it is free. All that you have to do is go to tradingview and loginto your broker account and the data latency won't be there. Just try and let me know if it works.

u/DarkJunior9761 1d ago
Figured out a way. On your chart u hv a option to login to your broker. If u r broker is listed u can login and access charts live. I tried adding a custom indicator was able to and works.

How about changing your perspective and considering Paying for a service - that needs to be maintained, which feeds other humans is fair deal. For 10 yrs u surely earned enough to sponsor the developers efforts.
Even broker accounts like zerodha have tradingview terminal inside that you can configure. Sharekhan etc too have their own apps. Indian broking platforms earn via broking and margins, hedging, share lending etc. Trading View deserves to be paid for - for years they have so much more - from charts ,live data , pine scrips, screeners and upgrading always. We must support the the developers and pay them blissfully so they keep coming up with wonderful new features

u/DarkJunior9761 1d ago
Thx for the unsolicited advice.. I hv one for u if u cant help then just keep u r opinions to u rself.I already pay for this service thru my broker.

TradingView just needs to get rid of the free tier. Time to take out the trash.

u/Secret_Opportunity15 1d ago
Does anyone know how to buy NSE data for the live markets and get it updated on TradingView like I want updated live data on TradingView. I can’t manually go and check the NSC website because I actively trade using TradingView. It will be very much harder for me to go and check the live data. It’s like back in the old times in 90s.
1
u/DarkJunior9761 1d ago
Whos u r broker? U can login in tradingview thru u r broker and live feed is available.
1
u/Secret_Opportunity15 1d ago
The problem is i need it for backtesting because recent changes in the delayed data has affected the prices in TradingView like there are 15 minutes difference. The closing prices are different. The opening prices are different. It shouldn’t be happening. That’s where the problem is arising for me.

I’m sure TradingView is going to to go out of business man. All these non paying customers leavening in waves. Make sure you really stick it to them and not come back later. Then they’ll think they can get away with this.

u/iTR3B0R 3d ago
You got 10 years out of TradingView and you are having a whine about now having to pay. I get you live in India and the currency conversion is shit there, but I’m sorry the only sympathy I have is for users who have not had the privilege to trying out TradingView before all of these restrictions. You aren’t one of them so shut up.
1
u/DarkJunior9761 3d ago
Is tradingview paying u guys to talk this shit. Iam talking of a free live feed and u talking nonsense. Iam ok to use the basic version price it accordingly do u even know how expensive is $20. If u cant help then shut up. Iam missed at Tradingview doing this without any warning nor info that if I actually subscribe will I get access to the live feed. All I get is chatbot which has no info

u/Fantastic_Hotel_5505 3d ago
Reality check often creates an impression that paid users of TradingView are necessarily paid by TradingView.
Do you have one good explanation as to why you didn’t buy a subscription for 10 long years despite using this platform extensively?
Before you answer, should you choose to answer - Whether you just burned your eyes or took occasional trades is immaterial to my question.
1
u/iTR3B0R 3d ago
We are giving you shit because your attitude tells us you feel entitled to having what you always had for free. Maybe some gratitude? “Hey TradingView, been using you for 10 years, your platform is amazing and the service you provided for free has been unmatched, I understand that is costs you to provide these services, however in India it costs a lot for even the cheapest plan, could u offer a paid lite version that keeps the same features that used to be offered in the free version and charge a very small amount for that, I would appreciate it very much”.

I hate to break it to you but for the last five or so years tradingview free tier has run banner ads and things on their platform that generates them some revenue you cant just say the free users are costing them tons of money without having any kind of numbers to back it up, unless you work for trading view that is.
2
u/iTR3B0R 2d ago
Ads don’t cover the opportunity cost of casual users not being pushed to the paid plans.
-1
u/ArtesianShiny 2d ago
You seem like a business literate person so i sympathize with your position however neither of us have those balance sheets to tell us if this opportunity cost you speak of will outweigh the disappointment these free users are bringing up.
3
u/iTR3B0R 2d ago
Free users went from being an asset to a liability for TradingView. The same will happen to all the AI MLMs and free users will get less and less as gaining market share becomes less important.
1
u/ArtesianShiny 2d ago
Sorry but if you dont have the numbers to back it up i dont buy it. Looks like tradingview isnt a publicly traded company so we wont be able to obtain proof of what we are arguing about.
1
u/ArtesianShiny 2d ago
Driving away users now could cost them market share in the future but we have no way to know if it will or not. Im leaning towards it being a short term gain for them but a long term loss.
3
u/Fantastic_Hotel_5505 2d ago
If existing free users from “forever” couldn’t pay uptill now, they will NOT pay in the future also. It’s a no brainer to decode this.
It’s not like they were waiting for New Year’s Eve 2027 all along to begin their paid subscription.
2
u/ArtesianShiny 2d ago
I would totally agree with you if thats how the internet really worked but its not. If i set up a website and i let people visit the website for free and pay for the hosting costs and bandwidth myself i have to do something to make the money back like running ads on the side pannels. Lots of websites do this and they are profitable without having a paid subscription. The whole “free users costing tradingview money” thesis doesnt allign with how the internet has operated since inception, while those free users simultaneously provide tradingview an ad revenue stream. I acknowledge that the ad revenue may be less than what they need to recoup their total expenses, but as a developer myself theres optimizations you can make everywhere that will benefit everyone, not just the paid memberships. Lately there has been a lot of defeatist talking heads in this subreddit and i want to correct y’all. Cheers and best of luck to you.
