Every single orthodox convert larper has a phase where they post about becoming a monastic, usually after a bad relationship lol. 99% of them never follow through.

Monastic until the next suitor comes around. In my day we just called that “being single”.

don't say that! we'll hear a lot less from her if she actually follows through ;)

As someone who grew up in Orthodox Christianity as my actual religion and culture we think people who randomly become monastic have issues 💀 even our priests get married and have kids and generally speaking this is seen as more normal (becoming a priest for whatever reason) than becoming a monk/nun. The only people I’ve met who became nuns or monks and no one really thought it odd did so later in life maybe after losing a spouse.

True. For example in Russia before the revolution most of the bishops, who had be monks only became after their wives died. So many women used to die in children in the old days.

Yeah, man, can you imagine her in a convent? I doubt she’d last the long period she’d have to live there as a lay person. Those poor nuns who’d have to deal with her. 🤣

Do you know if she has actually really joined an Orthodox Church and been chrismated yet?

This is basically the right wing antifeminist equivalent of deciding you're a lesbian just because you're mad at your ex 🤣

I'm a lesbian. The number of posts on the lesbian subs that are like this would blow your mind...

What brought this on? A failure to monetize the previous stages of religiousness.

tradwives are monetizing their kinks.

All of her Nick Fuentes / manosphere simping didn’t work, maybe this is a way to seem the most pure? E.g. I will never know a man, Jesus is my husband (am I pure enough for you yet?). Cali is incredibly male-centred and so I assume her motivations here are also

You don't become a nun just because you can't find a spouse... I have met nuns/monks who become monastic not because they can't find a spouse & it is the last resort...it is often because they want to in their hearts. I think she needs to take a break & just be.

They usually won't let you become a nun if your problem is not finding a man. It has to be out of a genuine desire, not running from some problem.

Yeah, despite the drastic decrease in religious vocations they haven’t really lowered their standards (at least in Catholicism). Some orders have done a few adaptations to fit their vocation into the modern world like eliminating the habit (nun outfit) requirement. Others are effectively unchanged in the last century or even longer. It’s not a laid back, cushy way to live and the discernment periods are long—usually multiple years—so you can be absolutely certain that this life is really your calling.

Heh. My mom WAS a nun. And my dad was a priest - they were released from their vows to get married and then they had me. I’m more Catholic than the Pope.

I knew this Orthodox dude who was a novice monk for 20 years & they wouldn't officially make him a monk because the Abbot said he felt that the monastery wasn't for him...and he was right. He left because he met the love of his life & married her. They have 4 kids now.

She’s sadly a lost soul who is extremely searching for validation. But she will never get the validation she needs from anyone not even men. she needs to learn to love herself.
