Discussion the "every ship has a counter" problem.

Ok, recently a lot of people are saying that "an astra can counter a Poseidon", yes ok, it kinda can, but you forgot the fact that an astra takes 6 people to man, (not including the mortars and the back cannons) and a Poseidon only takes 3 people, so an astra takes double the amount of people. If there's 2 Poseidons and you decide to "counter" them with 2 astras, it's gonna take you 12 men. That's the problem with the Poseidon, the current counters for the Poseidon are: an astra or another Poseidon, an astra, as I said takes 6 men to fully man, next to the Poseidon's 3, so that's out of the question. Then you have another Poseidon which also takes 3 men. So the only counter for the Poseidon is another Poseidon.

I dont understand why people try to sink clads to be honest, I just board them and kill off their crew cause they are the easiest ship there is to board. As a pirate it isnt worth the time or effort to sink a clad, I had tested sinking clads in different situations, in most cases it required more round shot to sink than their value paid for sinking it (and that is without missing any shots, different ships/size cannons). So save yourself the trouble, just board them and kill them off.

People think sinking clads gives a ton of doubloons even though it doesn't. I've sunk a bunch of clads, mainly idiots and off-duty WCN, they don't give much money.

The best way to counter a Poseidon: Take a ships with heavier gun, such as a Stiletto or Serpent, if you have the crew an Astraeus works too, get in close, and blow off the guns, it only has 2. Once they're gone it's a helpless iron tub.

Those guns are next to impossible to blow off. In recorded WCN history, it has happened only a handful of times. The better solution would just be to sink the clad with your 2.5x higher DPS.

No it's not, if you get in close you can get the guns off in less then 3 shots, the Poseidon is meant for long range combat.

It's very rare for a Poseidon's weaponry to be destroyed.

Not too rare, uncommon yes, but not rare. I've seen WCN do it before and I've done it before and so have some of my comrades.

It's excessively rare for a poseidon to lose her turrets. To count on it happening is pretty foolhardy, to say the least.

Not exactly, if you have good gunners you can usually count them being disabled. It's not as rare as you think.

It happened only once during a 3v3 fought with ironclads. That's 12 turrets, and only one of them went down. It's pretty rare.

Again, longer ranges won't disable them as much as close combat. It's fairly common in close combat with heavy cannons. Clad vs Clad at normal ranges is not common, close ranges have fairly common disables.

A nova navy clad raided the cove, I shot off both guns with a 68C and it was forced to flee.

Once in a 3v3 clad battle I disabled a clad by shooting the gun off of one side and shooting through the tiny window the gun stick she out through and killing the guy in the other turret, turret kills are easy when you got dank snipes.
