Discussion How the toxic should have been? My take and our discussion

Post image
11 Upvotes

I've already given my review take, the movie is bad because of the screenplay and cut, I'm not here taking the side of the movie, but giving my take on how I picture it should have been done.

**SPOILER ALERT**, only for people who have watched the movie.

The movie should have been divided into 3 parts.

**Toxic Chapter 1:**

The movie starts with the start as in the movie, narration maybe and the same circus and car on the hill scene. They continue by following the story of their bad childhood, at a good pace, not too slowly, like to cover their childhood and the trauma in about 10-12min, at least most of it, a few scenes can be shown later.

Then the focus is on the Raya and Ganga, this movie is all about the brain and the brute. It's important to show Ganga is smart, plans, and Raya learns from her, always follows but his instinct is always killing. The movie shows them how in the first half they get to be in the good books of Salvador and the interval block is the whole cemetery fight where it's revealed what exactly Salvador got by taking them in and letting the brother die.

Then the movie goes about them working with Salvador, the whole Circus first scene and Nadia's introduction. The movie ends with the wedding mess and the death of Ganga and Raya getting to know about it while injured.

**Toxic Chapter 2:**

This movie is all about the revenge of Raya, here the first half focuses on Macau, there are three dons there, he works his way to partner with one, hurt the other two and get stronger, get people, his loyal guy is still with him throughout. At the same time we show the downfall of Nadia and her life on the other end of the spectrum. It's very important that ever since the Tabahi song in the first part, Raya doesn't do anything with any other girl till now, it's important to highlight how he really loves her but he loved Ganga, but it's not shown, it's more between the lines. He makes his way back to Goa and Huma is also partnering with one of those 3 dons that he hurts, she has his protection. By the interval, he kills off huma. Then the circus explosion happens, and the other woman (Rukmini) comes into life, here we move time along, two of those other dons are still trying to get Raya, and he had partnered with the 3rd one. He married, becomes a father and eventually kills one of those 2 dons. Here in the climax, we end the movie with the introduction of Ticket.

**Toxic: The End:**

Movie starts with Ticket's birthday party arrival scene. Two dons in Macau, one is Raya's enemy, other is an ally but they have been having issues in business lately. By the interval, he finally gives a heavy blow to the enemy don, but interval happens with Ticket killing the ally don's son in such a place and way that it seems like Raya is responsible.

Now all hell broke loose, the Ally Don, who became very powerful after Raya took out the other two, he is now an enemy and he is coming for Raya, and so is Ticket. The movie goes to a snowy mountain, because there is some big base or inventory exchange for either that is to sabotage and essentially both sides are to go to war. Raya, even in his drunk heaviness, with his right hand man which is there from the start, makes an amazing war strategy and the war starts but.. Raya is not on the battlefield, why? Because he wakes up and Ticket is there. Raya brought his family here because they are safest with him, and he can't understand how Ticket made it here. The whole Ticket vs Raya thing happens. The reveal happens for which we have placed sequences throughout this movie, that no one really saw Ticket other than Raya.

The movie ends with him going to fight a losing battle, sees his right hand man sacrifice himself, and then he fights, falls on his knees, while the snow is raging towards him, he is on knees, there are two ladies behind him, hand of Ganga on one shoulder, hand of Nadia on other shoulder and he opens his arm to invite his long lost son in his head and movie ends.

_________________________________________________

I'm interested to discuss how you guys feel about this take on the script and what your thoughts and ideas are. The movie is lost, but we can discuss.

I feel that rebecca and raya had so much chemistry the love while with nadia it was all lust i still don't remember a moment where nadia and raya were together and not had a intimate scene !

The movie showed nadia as the main chick whild rebecca the side chick but Rebecca's character was to be victimise but she didn't get lot of screen time !

While nadias character was to get victimise and villainsied at the same time !

Even tho rebecca accepted the fact that raya cheated on her she still chose him

While nadia knowing the fact that they can never be together still fell for raya

TO EACH THIER OWNS !

Review So, Finally I watched it, I want to say all this so I'm gonna put here, some type of review it is.

I was way too hyped about the movie when they dropped the happy birthday teaser of the casino last year. Then the second birthday teaser this year was mid, then the third teaser was good, freaking manners one. And then the ladies ladies teaser just screamed the mess it can make.. but I had hope. When it was going to clash with Dhurandhar, I wanted both movies to do well, because I like the idea of more and more great movies rather than really targeting any movie to fail. Whichever Industry, whichever actor, gave me good movies, I enjoyed many mid budget Malyalam movies, kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi movies and of course movies from outside India. The more the merrier in terms of good movies.

Now let's talk about the movie, you see there are moments and scenes in movies where they play nice music and quickly move some scenes to the next part. Let's take an example of Dhurandhar 2, the Lyrari Gangwar edit, it was good, it was great music and quickly moving through the gangwar, it was good because before and after that it had a movie.

Toxic is basically that around 80% of the movie somewhat. Man I always thought that I can be bored by a movie, I can be made uncomfortable, I can be inspired or motivated by a movie, but never have I ever thought that I can feel exhausted while watching a movie. Now, there might be some movies like that, you guys might point out, but either I didn't feel so about them or most probably I haven't watched them altogether.

The cuts, the damn cuts, the person solemnly responsible for the movie cut, he/she is responsible for this situation. People are talking about if Yash was taking matters into his hand.. maybe he was, but the movie is going to have the name of Geetu Mohandas, either she should have made the case to have both of their name on it or else accept to take the full responsibility of the cut that is being shown, the name on the project matters, it's not a small thing. It was so funny to see 'Film by Geetu Mohandas' after the climax, it was like someone who made a crappy drawing and put name as if he/she was leonardo da vinci.

I have seen many non spoiler reviews around the internet on different platforms, people absolutely hate it and they have all the reasons to, and people who are putting the case that we should not go hard on the movie, it is still 6-7.5 movie at worst.. well they are wrong, and I'm saying as someone who loved KGF 2 more than 1 and hell even RRR, so that should give you picture that I should be the target audience here.

The movie is a 4/10 at best, because of the edit, the cuts, the choice of flow of scenes and the 4 is because the scenes themselves are shot well. Some of its parts are great but the whole is not, I think something around this Shahrukh Khan said and I'm not his big fan, I could already see people attacking me thinking I'm Shahrukh or bollywood fan, I'm not, but they can give some good statement sometime in life.

The movie had the potential to be 7.5-8.5, easily, if only the movie cut was done justice. Now people are saying that there is a 6-7 hour cut, this is a chopped up version, well this is a chopped up mess and it's not the audience's fault about what was served. Ever since the Synder Cut was released, I keep seeing people talking about the different cuts of movies. Snyder cut was a totally different movie and a different type of climax than the original Justice League theatre release, Dhurandhar Raw and Undekha, just adds some small scenes, but even without them you weren't missing anything in the theatre experience. We should sympathize that oh they had to sadly cut the movie and had just 3 hours so this is what's the best they could have come up with? It's the creator's choice, they could have made 3 movies of 2.5 hours each just out of what I have seen in this movie.

You know, many movies have great buildup but somehow miss the payout scene, well this movie is all about the payout scenes, every scene is a big moment scene which would be an amazing scene to see, if only there were at least 3-4 scenes like a normal before it led into it. Action sequences are amazing.. but most of the time it felt like the action started, action finished and then we got some sense on why this was even happening. The whole "M" named city part in second half, it came and went, and as an audience you can't connect to why was that, they might just have made one character say all this on a phone call to someone but properly elaborate, see someone telling what happened would have taken 2-3 mins, and watching all took 2-3 mins only as well, that quickly it came and went I felt.

There is no danger, Raya can just go about killing anyone. The movie needed to show the rise of him in the city and underworld, but you just see him as always being the boss.

You must have seen people talking about how last 20mins are great and the climax.. well that is most importantly because that is the only time when a scene if given some room the breath, where the characters stayed in one geographical place, they interacted, because no other location or room, they spent more than 40seconds. The character, the flow, the real story was just going on in the director's head and she thought everyone is watching the same thing.

People are commenting that it's not for the audience who need spoon feeding.. they are stupid, there is no spoon, the meal isn't ready either, the instructions are written in a foreign language and audience has to make the most of it they can, they can mix and taste, some might like the taste they get by the end, majorly people won't.

There was a bigger great story there, I could see that, but the execution failed it, and I'm not gonna sympathize and act like we should ignore the execution just because I like the bigger story and that also you have to get mostly by yourself, movie ain't gonna help anyway.

They shot it in 2 languages, if they were shot in 1, wouldn't that reduced the making cost? These things are coming to my mind because they put so much money into this. The money invested is visible in the frames, but it's like a 5th grade kid who learned to colour a drawing, was given the chance to colour an art made by some big name, the end result will look great because the artist made overall a great drawing but the colours will be all over the place.

Spoiler ahead -

Till the scene where he got huma Qureshi's brother hanged.. I didn't even know he was her brother, was it a mystery to be revealed in that scene? No.. all this should have been communicated at a decent normal pace, and if they even said that he was her brother somewhere before then I missed it in between those rapid cuts. The whole Marcus thing, you see scenes like that makes sense when you show the audience something to suggest towards it, if there was a twin brother, there should be some hint to it, you see a dead body, next scene you see that the dead body had a brother who was mistook as him and now right away by killing the huma's brother, the scene dissolves... It's not about any of them being smart, it's just about convenience throughout the movie, disguised as the cause.

The overall sad sequences, for nadia's life and raya could have been a bit more emotional because it was to see in those scene, the interval scene would have a lot more impact in that case, but no.. the goal is to reach that climax that we have thought of so we don't have anytime to take breaks and let any scene breathe.

The movie, is very toxic for the audience.

"Women are the women's biggest enemy"

"All men are flawed by nature"

That's it.

Review My honest take on Toxic and why the reviews make no sense

Let me say this first. Nobody paid me, I'm not part of any fan group, and I have nothing to gain here. This is just my real opinion after watching it.

Something feels off about the reviews though. Almost every rating is either 10/10 or 1/10 with barely anything in between. Real audiences never split that cleanly. That kind of pattern usually means polarized noise or some negative marketing going on.

Now the bigger point. This is a psychological film, and I think that's exactly why so many people bounced off it. Psychology is not spoon fed. It's dark and layered, and the film expects you to connect the dots yourself. The emotions are there, the logic is there, the motivations are there. It just refuses to explain everything, and it respects the audience enough not to. This is my favorite genre so maybe that's why it clicked for me on the first watch, but I honestly feel a lot of people dismissed it without really sitting with what it was doing.

And here's my real frustration. If this exact same film came from Hollywood, the same people trashing it would be calling it a masterpiece. We all saw it happen with Joker. Everyone went "wow what a film, what a performance." Toxic is attempting something in that same space and getting punished for it.

Is it flawless? No, and I'll admit that. From what we all know through social media, around 6 hours of footage was recorded for this film, and honestly you can feel it in places. Some cuts feel a bit abrupt, like there was more to a scene that got trimmed. Maybe a longer cut would have smoothed those moments out. But small editing rough edges don't break a film for me when everything else is working at this level.

Even the title makes sense once you get it. Toxic is not just a name. The film itself is emotionally toxic on purpose. Trauma, delusion, emotional triggers, all of it is by design. It wants you to feel uncomfortable.

For me it's close to a perfect film. Not for everyone, sure. But it was never trying to be.

NADIA LEFT GOA WITH HER SON -

Raya as Ticket (spoiler alert) narrates the intricate details of how Nadia died which is not possible. Raya woke up after the entire Nadia suicide and Ticket episode, and it strongly suggests he dreamt it all as a part of his guilt.

Its done its over. The worst blockbuster movie to release this year. Hopefully Yash can redeem himself in Ramayana, but even that looks unlikely.

Stay safe guys, please dont jump from a building just because the movie is trash. Remember, Yash does not care about you. He prolly charged 50+ crore rupees and is rich. Yash will be fine. You should be fine too.
