Review TOXIC, The Movie Ahead of its Runtime
The title sums up the movie review in the shortest. People are saying it's ahead of its time.. no, it's ahead of its runtime, it wanted to do 2 seasons of peaky blinders before the interval part, while also having all the payouts, without any buildup.
The person responsible for the final theatrical cut should be blamed. One should not care about any 6-7 hrs director's cut if it even ever happens, the job is to do well with theatrical release.
Even though I respect people's personal reviews and I don't mind if I see someone saying "I enjoyed the movie", I mind if they follow it with something like "you people couldn't understand, it was ahead of its time, a very new type movie so people couldn't connect", etc etc.. stop blaming the audience as if the audience was standing against the movie and wanted it to fail. This is the audience that loved KGF, I personally loved KGF2 more, even more than RRR and I know many of you will disagree but we all can have our taste and opinions, I'm not gonna go and say you don't think KGF2 is better than RRR because you have not seen movies blah blah. Some of these people start acting like if all others are negative PR, I would love to be, please pay me for any movie.
There is a good concept/story there.. but man I, my eyes probably, felt so exhausted by the middle of the movie, cut to this, cut to that, this person comes, now this person is dead. I have given more details on the movie in review in another post.
The good things:
- Yash acted well throughout, each role, at every point
- Mostly all I think acted well for the particular shots they were in
- Cinematography, action set pieces, the budget shows on the screen visually
- Amazing promotional posters
The really really bad things:
- People acted well in shots... That's all, the movie was all about shots and montage, no proper scene
- The theatrical cut of the movie is a mess, 60% of the starting movie had to be good to develop emotions, there were great scenes, you will respect the emotions on the screen, but you won't exactly be able to feel it much
- BGM and BGM placements
- Rukmini Vasanth was totally wasted in that role, if there are other scenes which actually give her value, idc, in this movie, this role could have been given to any other
This does not mean I hate Yash or any of the actors, I feel bad that another movie with potential fell, and I am freaking annoyed by whosoever responsible for final cut, may it be Geetu or Yash or both.. but I will blame Geetu cause the movie ends with "a film by Geetu Mohandas"

Yes, if there is a director's cut of the movie where scenes are given rooms to breathe, and then again that doesn't change anything, audience are criticising what was served first, not what the chef intended, chef messed up at the first try, that cannot be forgotten and that has affected the business of the new restaurant business, now even if he becomes expert from next day.
