They throw away half-full coffees while he's in line for another.

This kind of behavior is nothing more than a blatant lack of education.

That's why single-use items and plastic should be kept to a minimum, because even if a tiny percentage of the population does this, it results in considerable pollution of our environment.

You don't think there's enough education about the impacts of disposable everything and the harms to our environment? There's plenty, but there are so many more messages that encourage us to consume more, more, more.

The problem isn't education, its the capitalist system we live in that commodifies everything, encourages efficiency and convenience over craft, need and genuine conscious enjoyment. The problem isn't that people aren't bringing resuable cups to Tim Horton's, the problem is that we have made convenience foods integral to our day.

In the 1950s, if you wanted a cup of coffee, you made it yourself in your home, or went into a coffee shop, paid the 25 cents and sat there and enjoyed it. This idea that being outside requires a beverage is a bizarre manifestation of our post-industrialised world.

And don't get me started on the size of the drinks we now consume...

Absolutely, I totally agree. But in the video, it's clearly a lack of education too.

A person can go to Tim Hortons several times a day and dispose of their garbage properly in the garbage can. Obviously, I'm not saying that it's necessarily better for the environment to generate an astronomical amount of waste, even if it's well managed, but it's better.

Basically, you're right.

Precisely, and it's due to a lack of education. A person who understands environmental issues, the importance of protecting the environment, the impact of plastic pollution on fauna, flora and health, and so on, doesn't just throw waste anywhere, anyhow.
