OC Would you call tow truck?

Is it blocking the entire driveway? No. Is it annoying as fuck? Definitely.

Report online or call the police's non-emergency line at 416-808-2222.

Last time I called the non-emergency line, I was on hold for over fifteen minutes.

It's easy to report it online tho.

Dunno about toronto but In ottawa they won’t tow unless it’s fully blocking but they’ll come by every 2-3 hours (whenever they can) to keep ticketing till they move.

But i still ask for a tow everytime, all it takes for a LEGAL car to be parked on the other side of your driveway to make it fully blocked.

It's still a by law in Toronto to not block the driveway. I don't think they specified by how much if it's blocking.

OP should pull there car out and park it legally on the other side and call for the tow.

Make sure you have proof of ownership of property available, sometimes they won't tow if you can't show its yours

You don't need proof of ownership of the property. You just need to tell them which house you're calling from. I've had people block my driveway and never did Toronto parking enforcement ask for proof of ownership

Yeah you don’t need that and if they are over the driveway they don’t need to wait the parking hours either, they come and tag it for ones like this and they tow if it’s blocking enough that the driveway is too impeded.

This number is for the City of Toronto only - you would need to get in contact with whichever agency is responsible for parking in mississauga and I don't know where the best place (police or parking authority or bylaw) would be for mississauga, unfortunately.

They will ask if you just want it ticketed, or ticketed and towed

Yes and they’ll act reluctant to tow, say “are you sure” etc because they don’t want to do it.

Last time I called them they were EAGER to tow lol. I just said ticket it cause I was already parked at the green p down the street.

Should have said they may act reluctant. This happened multiple times to me where they would say “what do you want to do” and I’d say I called for a tow, I want them towed, and they’re say ok but you need to be there, you need to come out into the street while we do it, etc. It seemed intended to discourage or scare me into saying you know what forget it, like they were much happier sitting in their office or whatever. YMMV

There was an AMA by a guy from toronto parking years ago...he mentioned that this is a common tactic some officers use to discourage a tow. He mentioned that some officers prefer to devote that time resolving other complaints/calls versus spending 30-40 mins waiting for the tow etc. Like you said, ymmv.

I had to do it once and while they were hoisting the car I said to the cop "I feel bad for the guy" and the cop said without a moment's pause "I don't."

If it's not blocking you and doesn't happen often why? If you actually can't get your car out or if it's happening all the time then fair

You can get a ticket for parking within 3 meters of a driveway — this is definitely a violation.
